    Ups.
-Up With The Birds is BRILLIANT.
-So are UFO and Up In Flames (2011's Fix You?).
-Hurts Like Heaven, as stated before, sounds better in studio than it did live.
-Don't Let It Break Your Heart was surprisingly good given it has the same crappy pseudo-techno beat than Teardrop.
-I already liked Charlie Brown and Us Against The World so I haven't been surprised to like them also in their studio versions. Same goes for Major Minus.

    Downs.
-Paradise works better alone than on the album for me, and so does Teardrop.
-The three interludes are nice Eno-fications, but they bump the tracklist to 14 songs innecesarely. They could be included in their respective tracks as intros and not separate tracks. They fake the tracklist, and that I don't like.
    -Princess Of China is crap.

-Up With The Birds is 2011's Fix You for me.
-I'm not sure how I feel about HLH studio, I don't like the effects over Chris's voice.... other than that it sounds great.
-Don't Let t Break Your Heart is great, especially with a Hopeful Transmission before it.
-Us Against The World is 10000x better in studio than live.
-Agreed with Paradise/Teardrop, but its fine by me.
-Princess of China would be a ton better if Chris sang "coulda been a princess, id be your king."

-I'm Jealous that youre going to that Madrid show, it should be great.
-They need to come to the States soon, and by states I mean Virginia.

  2. I might just be too old for Coldplay (who are my age...), but... I'm not quite convinced at first listen. There's some good songs (perhaps 4 or 5), but also quite a few predictable-sounding and uninspired moments.
  3. Listened to it once all the way through.

Could be that "new" feeling that makes you love anything fresh, maybe not, but honestly I'd say this is their best album to date. Every song on this album does something great (Paradise is still a bit iffy for me), whereas other albums by them had a bunch of boooooring "album filler tracks" on them. Love this album, it's definitely a step away from their previous work.
  4. Listened through once and all i will say is WOW!!! great album and a great story!! I will post a full review when i get the chance
  5. Getting this atm, excited to give it a listen cuz ive not really heard any of the new songs apart from Teardrop.
  6. Hurts Like Heaven is honestly freakin wicked. I loved it when I first heard it on Letterman, and I love it on the album as well. I can really only describe it by saying that it's bursting with colour! Buckland is all over this song, and all over the entire album. So wicked.
  7. I'm going to give it its third listen. I almost don't remember my previous ones so I'm ready to be surprised again Also waiting for the official lyrics to leak/surface... If someone gets them, please post here! THanks
  8. my penis throbs with anticipation while i am waiting to hear this
  9. Well ive been listening to it this morning but Im not really impressed.
  10. I wonder why they've put Charlie Brown twice on the album... and why they called it Don't let it break your heart the 2nd time...

It's definitely a step in another direction for Coldplay -maybe that's even the album that Bono wanted to make for a while- but I'm not sure if I like this direction. It somehow sounds like there's only 2 songs on the album. Not much variation and a little too poppy for my taste.

Like U2's recent work, so far it's hit and miss for me. One or two great tracks, a few terrible songs and a lot of soso...

Could completely change in a month or so...

  11. Yep, me neither.

    - Hurts like heaven is sparkling, I like it.
    - Paradise sounds like a good and successful single, but I'm not sure yet whether it is a good song.
    - Charlie Brown: there's some nice ideas, but I don't really like it
    - Us against the world: a nice ballad after all
    - Every teardrop etc.: dislike
    - I like Major Minus
    - I like UFO, too
    - Princess of China: dislike
    - Don't let it break your heart: ditto
    - Up with the Birds: still don't get it

I have even pre-ordered the album - now I'm not sure I'd buy it again, though 3 or 4 songs are certainly quite good. Musically, Noel's album ranks ways higher for me: no fillers, great melodies... melodies is what I miss more in this new Coldplay album. Lots of it sounds predictable, and cheesy. I'm under the impression they have tried to compensate their lack of inspiration with massive Eno-esque production. But a great song should sound great already if played with an acoustic guitar. I miss the freshness and directness of songs like Yellow and Strawberry Swing. I'd say: move away from Eno, get some decent clothes, and get back to what you can do best.

I completely agree: most of it sounds like the same poppish-coldplayish stuff. Where are the songs? I hope Bono isn't going in this direction.
