It's not out yet, comes out next week.

Here's a thought I had. I think the band should pull a Pink Floyd and perform this album front to back every night, and then play a second set of hits and fan favourites and stuff. It would retain the concept of the narrative in a live setting, and I think the track order on this album just WORKS as it is. It'd just be cool to see a modern band do that as well.

Princess Of China is currently my favourite song on the album!

I completely agree with playing it front to back. It's just short enough too, 45 mins, where they could then do another hour long set and have themselves a show.

What that takes away from the tour, though, is a "Mylo Xyloto Tour", in which the current songs are melded against the new, which is always cool to hear/see. It becomes Act I: MX, Act II: Greatest Hits, which I don't like as much I guess.

Fair enough. I know what you mean, night after night it's always fun to see where they put new songs in the set, which new songs they might play, etc.

But it'd be nice to have a change from that formula too. I'd even like to see U2 do something like this if their next album is really good. Bands just don't really do it anymore. On the Dark Side tour, PF would play the entire album, and then Echoes (which is essentially a 20 minute jam if anyone doesn't know) which is really awesome. Obviously Coldplay could play like 10 hits or whatever, seeing as (as you said) MX is only 45 minutes long.

I dunno, I think it'd be cool! I don't think they'll do it, just becuase they realize people want to hear (essentially) a greatist hits set, but you never know. This IS a narrative album, so maybe they will do something like that.

    That's the problem.
  4. It came out in Aus today, ripping it to itunes atm
  5. I will agree that the songs on Rush of Blood don't carry the same repeat-listenability that songs like Yellow, Teardrop, VLV, Talk, Shiver (etc.) carry, but that's because the songs are a lot heavier than that. With the exception of "In My Place", I don't think there's an "easy-listening" song on that whole album, unless you're soul-less enough to listen to "The Scientist" and not cripple a little inside. Even the ones that are the most gentle carry a back-breaking emotion to them, that strikes a very tender nerve inside my soul. Tracks that seem so simple are just a jumping-off point for my brain to paint a landscape of complex feeling. I'm not even going to name specific songs, because we're all going to hear each one differently. What I see as gentle, you might see as extremely moving. That's part of the beauty of the album. Rush of Blood isn't just something I can throw on- it's the perfect drug for when I need it though.

It's a rush of blood to the head- you need to stop and settle in for a second to regain normalcy. You don't just keep running when it hits you. Take a couple of deep breaths and wait for your vision to balance back to normal.
  6. So, after a quick run-through of the CD, it sounds exactly like the leaked version. All "errors" included.
For those who care, the stuff CP "borrowed" is:

Ritmo de la noche/I go to Rio in Every Teardrop
Takk (Sigur Ros) in Princess of China
Driven by you (Brian May) in Up in Flames
Anthem (lyrical sample) in Up in Flames

    The booklet is a joke.
  7. I heard Takk in Princess of China, thought it worked well as a base texture.

I agree the booklet is shit, no lyrics. Just random colours.
  9. Nowadays, a booklet may be the most important factor in record sales, because the musical content can be downloaded.
  10. Vinyl arrived today, too.
I like the artwork a little more in that format.

  11. Thanks for the pics. Wow, the vinyl edition is gorgeouzzz... I'm still not buying it, I think a normal CD will do it for me.

Even more of a mystery why they decided to screw it up completely...
