    On another note, it's less than 1 month now until the stadium tour starts, and my friends and I are having a tough job imagining the stage and how big will the FOS area be... Any ideas? Do you think the X-stage (assuming it stays for the stadium tours) will surpass the limits of the FOS zone and end up in the GA, or not?

    I'm actually a bit curious about their stage set up as well once they expand to stadiums. I can't imagine them getting rid of the X-stage, though. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised to see the external walkways expanded, similar to the heart stage when the Elevation tour hit Slane and the Bomb Shelter, which actually "ruptured" when the Vertigo Tour went outside.

    Another interesting thing I've heard on the Coldplay forums is the format of the stage when they play at the Hollywood Bowl. If you've been to a performance at the Hollywood Bowl, you would immediately see the problem. While it's a great natural amphitheater, the stage space is far better suited for a symphony orchestra than it is for a rock show. In fact, I think they may have to play a game of "shrink the stage" just to get all of it to fit there.
  6. I haven't been to anything in the Hollywood Bowl but I've seen plenty of videos and photos, and I agree with you. They'll have a tough time trying to fit all their stage stuff, lasers and screens, in there. In fact, I doubt they can use their X-stage at all:



    The X-stage climbing up the hill? I can't see it happening. I think they will go for a rather reduced version of their stage and that's all. They are playing 2 or 3 nights at the Bowl so it's just a momentary problem, the rest of the arena-sized venues are standard
  7. I'm just really surprised that they decided to play at the Hollywood Bowl as opposed to the Rose Bowl. I mean, they're already in LA and I'm pretty sure they would be able to easily sell out multiple shows at the Rose Bowl. They probably wouldn't be able to get as many people into the venue as the 360 show, but 3 shows at the Rose Bowl would definitely be an amazing thing.
  8. The Rose Bowl?! That's a 70.000 people stadium, it's nowhere comparable to the 17.000-ish Hollywood Bowl I doubt they'd sell 3 nights at the Rose. Moreover, if they were playing the Rose Bowl, they would have to ship the stadium stage overseas (coming back to the previous discussion) only for one show and then bring it back to Europe for the May/June shows... Nah, can't see it happening. What puzzles me is why they aren't playing a normal under-roof arena (there are plenty in the Los Angeles area) instead of the amphitheatre, which will cause them performance and stage problems. I still don't get it.

  10. +1. I still don't get why most artists refuse to play stadiums in the USA. As if it wasn't cold in Europe as well.
  11. Plus the sun sets in the US at the latest at 7:30-8pm while European summers always mess up the lighting of outdoor shows with their late sunsets.

    But then again, once their tour starts to hit stadiums, they will be instantly compared to 360, easily the most extravagant and ambitious stadium tour of all time. I can see why artists wouldn't want to be put into that conversation because there really is no comparison there.
  12. If Coldplay did outstanding performances (not only stage-wise) they shouldn't be afraid of the 360 stravaganzza. I'm aware that the 360 Tour will never (or in a nearby future) be topped in terms of attendance and gross, but it wasn't another Zoo TV artistically and performance wise. Sure the hardcore fans like us love it due to the setlist gems they've dropped and other things, but to the general audience it was just a mastodontic world tour featuring a spider stage and a laser jacket (I've heard that same opinion from a lot of people so I really know what I'm talking about). Coldplay are at the top of their popularity right now, and they have the chance to do something (artistically) bigger than 360. Just my 0'02$.
