1. U2 light, and will always be. A bit more interesting album this but that is just because of Eno I think.
I feel every single song on the album could have been better in some way.

Viva La Vida is perhaps their second best song ever after Clocks, but they are not even close to Streets or WOWY.
  2. Dont think its fair to always compare them to U2. Its like comparing every footballer to Maradonna, and saying they are rubbish cos they are no where near as good as Maradonna.

And its about time we had a decent band from London!

Maybe AROBTTH But x&y from the first listen i thought the songs all the same except for few , and i was surprisengly amazed that people here agree

Yeah, I agree on the songs having the ability be a little better. It's a nice album to listen to, but I'll get sick of it in a few month's time. Something about their music doesn't have the staying power for me as other bands (ahem) do. They're pretty, atmospheric, they take you to a "space," certainly on this album...but there's nothing underneath it, no real depth to them that make them long-lasting (for me, anyways). For now, though, they're nice to listen to.

Yes!! My God, they're only on their fourth album...aren't they a bit early in their career to be so depressed already?

I think that's exactly why I enjoy U2's music so much more than Coldplay's--U2's music, even when it seems depressing, is uplifting and elevating. Always. Even the songs that seem to be depressing or cynical (i.e. Acrobat) always, always have some sort of positive quality to them.
