1. What a shame...I think this is one of the worse moments of Juve's history

  2. Wanna see that, their game against Portsmouth was great with some great football.
Since when do you support ManUtd that much actually? You were the Chelsea-man once right?
  3. Man, I'd love a Champions League finale like that.... Barça-Manchester United (on the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, ironic xD)....... Football at its best
  4. It was a Barca v Man utd final last year....
  5. Yip. Barca thrashed them too!

  6. Correct. Either a stray backpass into the path of Torress or a dodgy header that ends up with Torres. Either way, Torres gain something from a Vidic mistake.

To be fair, neither side were any good. If Barca played like they did in that final against how United are playing now, then I'd expect United to walk all over them.

Barcelona have got to get through Arsenal and either Inter/CSKA in the semis. United however have got the easier side of things with Bayern followed by either Lyon/Bordeaux.

I think Barcelona could slip up en route to the final. Arsenal will be no pushovers and more than likely, Inter will be no pushovers either after knocking Chelsea out and having a pretty well rounded squad.

Fully expect United to win the Bayern game at Old Trafford, can't see anything major happening at the Olympiastadion. Then it'll be a relitively weaker side in the semi finals.

Barcelona murdered them in the final. 2-0 flattered Man Utd big time. Last years Barca side were probably the best European club side since Milan in the late 80's so no shame in losing to them.

To say United would walk over them just now is not true either. They are weaker than they were last year (as are Barca slightly) but Rooney has been phenominal. They trailed Chelsea almost all season until a few weeks back so they int that good. Oh and Rooney, no matter how good he is, is not in Messi's league - who is?!

United have an easier route to the final and should get there no question. I fully expect Barca to beat Arsenal but the tie with Inter is too tough to call. Inter's display at Stamford Bridge was outstanding.

If I had to choose, i hope Barca win it again. They are a fantastic club and quite amazing to watch. They aint no Celtic though...

The fact that there's Portsmouth in your sentence says it all
Ever since I opened my eyes

Tactically United were not on in the final. Agreed that Barcelona were better on the night (though only after the first goal went in, up until then it was United who were doing the murdering). After that Barcelona out passed a team that was doing all it could to chase the game down. It wasn't a display of super slick passing, brilliant counter attacking, quick build ups etc. Just a simple passing game that kept United at bay and made Barcelona look superior.

The United walking all over Barca statement you may have misunderstood. I was saying that the current United team in the form they're in would beat the Barcelona team that played in the final last year if Barcelona were to play the same kind of football as they did in the final. And the same would go for Barcelona, this years team would beat last years United team if United played the same way they did in the final. Basically stating that neither side were at all impressive in the final, both were impressive throughout the domestic season, just not in the final.

As for the Rooney - Messi comparison, that's for another day. The best in the world are often awarded the World Player of the Year and 7 of the past decade have been awarded to players playing in the Spanish leagues. Now is that because the La Liga is the best league with the best players or because it's easier to shine because of the differences in gameplay? Only once has a player in the premier league won it and that was Ronaldo in 2008.

Both Messi and Rooney have a massive impact within their team. They both have the ability to turn a game on it's head. Messi is a player who utilises his pace and skill, Rooney utilises his pace and raw strength to get past players. They both score goals. They both track back and work hard in midfield.

They both do a lot of things but to compare any player to another is a difficult task. People always are bowled over by the skills of an individual and often regard the player of a higher standard because of their skill (I'm talking pace and tricks here, not aerial ability for a goalkeeper). That's why they are widely renowned as the best. Messi, Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo (Fat and Cristiano), Zidane, Figo...etc. But I don't buy into the whole showboating thing a smuch as others, I admit it has an impact and it looks good. It's singles players out from the crowd. But I also appreciate, even more so, the hard working player who does his job, Wayne Rooney for example. He was criticised in recent years for not scoring goals like strikers do but his contribution to every other area of the picth during those seasons was invaluable.

    Anyway, enough. I'm hungry.

EDIT: Quick point on Arsenal. If you underestimate them, then they can make you pay. They have a very good squad and as is always the case with Arsenal, if they're not playing so well, they struggle to grind a result out unlike Chelse and Man United. If they're playing well, they can carve you up like a turkey.
  10. The Barcelona didn't play at even 50% of their capabilities on last year's final. You haven't seen them on some matches in the spanish league....... their football is simply beautiful to see, they're great. If they reach the final, and they play at 100%........ That will be the apocalypse. I'm sure.
