1. Sucky signal, they should signal about the offside cockups, not about a match played 1500 km further. Ajax shouldve led 2-1, probably Real would have won anyway (although ajax had some bad luck finishing regardless of those 2 goals). But it would definitely changed the game.

Its just ridiculous that two major cockups by the same linesman could potentially cost a team 25mln.
  2. Jup, but that is something that is never gonna chance when Blatter is still alive.
  3. Just sue him for 25 mln, he might get a heart attack when multiple teams do that

With Ajax potentially 2-1 up, I think Ajax would have at least held out for something. Plus it would've meant Lyon winning 9-1 (Had Madrid won 3-2)
  5. Plus with some luck with that ball on the cross bar... We will never know! Lets just not hope it happens in the Germany - Holland EC final next year (A)
  6. I am totally with you guys... football should use modern technology. Too many games are decided by human error.

  7. WE? C'mon! You're getting personal! I hate when people talk of their team in first person, it makes me sick... Too much fanatism
  8. Can't believe we're out.
  9. Yeah, both Manchester teams are out, shocking This morning there was a very interesting article on a Spanish newspaper entitled "The Manchester disaster"...

To be fair, neither deserved to go through. United have played some shocking football up until now. Letting Basel get back in the game at Old Trafford was a disgrace. Gifiting them the first goal last night and then failing to put away some clear chances was almost as bad.

It's time the players took a long hard look at themselves and start playing the United way. In times gone by you were lucky to even get a sniff of goal when playing United, especially at Old Trafford. Teams would travel there and plan how not to concede more than 3. Now they go there and think they can take something away with them.

  12. A little post from France on all that buzz on the Lyon's match.

Since this morning, there were a few comments coming from Spain and the Netherlands saying the game could have been tricked. Obivously, here, no medium has related such a thing. However, they have told what the Dutch and Spanish newspapers said. Well, that seems to be based more on frustration and jealousy than on pure facts.

    - It's obvious for Dutch people that it's hard to believe. Here, it's even harder actually. The match result has been the lead story today on the news. Nobody can believe it. However, nothing proves (or not) that the game would have been tricked. When you see the video of the famous wink by the Zagreb defender; there's nothing less obvious than complicity between he and Gomis.

    - Here, people say that the Spanish newspaper reaction is more based on some kind of "revenge" after Yannick Noah's words on Spanish sportmen being doped.

Anyway, I must say I can understand one can wonder about what happened, since it is completely unbelievable. The ARJEL is an official and independant organization, of which mission is to check if everything is alright about bets. And it seems there were lower bets on Lyon winning than average. So no worries on that side.

However, my thoughts are with Bart and all Ajax supporters, who must be more than disappointed tonight. Ajax does not deserve what has happened, but Lyon showed yesterday an awesome character strength.
