1. some matches would be neverending ...
if a match cannot be repeated than i can't think anything better than penalties.
  2. One example of said never ending match would be:

    Champions League final 2003...
  3. worst final of all times in every sense hehe
  4. The decoration at Old Trafford was immense though

  5. MSN are running a poll for the alternative to the penalties:

    - Keep penalty shootouts
    - Play until a goal is scored
    - Whoever has the most shots on target wins
    - Each team loses a man every 5 minutes
    - Run from the halfway line and shoot
    - Keepers can't use their hands
    - Make the goals bigger in extra-time

I'd be in favour of the teams losing a player every five minutes, certainly would be interesting Just keep penalties, why mess with a proven decider?
  6. not mentioned throwing the coin like years and years and .. ago
  7. Penalty kicks is the best way to settle it. It involves skill and nerve - no other option (that I'm aware of) comes close.

having said that, why did they do away with Silver and Golden Goals? Both were good innovations
  8. not that good we lost an EC with a golden goal hehe
  9. I like the idea of the silver and golden goals. Silver goals maybe would the preference for a more attacking game in extra time since if the opponent scores, it's all or nothing for your own team. Golden goal maybe offers more incentive to kill the game off quickly but that said, if neither team wants to concede the golden goal, it'll go to penalties, where fatigue plays less part since it's one kick. I don't think it's possible to strike up a balance where everyone is happy. I'd be in favour of keeping penalties just so we can have a good laugh at England.

    Was a fine goal though
  10. -Play until a goal is scored.
  11. Playing with less players would be my prefered option. 5 vs 5 on a smaller pitch in the center of the field. First one till x goals wins
