  3. Football: Uefa hands out first financial fair play penalties

Uefa has imposed its first financial fair play sanctions by temporarily withholding prize money from 23 clubs for failing to comply with the rules.

Europa League winners Atletico Madrid, Malaga, Sporting and Fenerbahce are among those under scrutiny.

Clubs face further investigation because of overdue payments to other clubs, employees or tax authorities. European football's governing body introduced the rules to force clubs to operate within their means.

The 23 clubs have been given a deadline of 30 September to prove that their finances are in order. Teams playing in all Uefa club competitions have been monitored since the start of the 2011/12 season. The are tasked with breaking even in 2012 and 2013 and being assessed during the 2013/14 season.

    Clubs under investigation:

    FK Borac Banja Luka (Bosnia)
    FK Sarajevo (Bosnia)
    FK Zeljeznicar (Bosnia)
    PFC CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria)
    HNK Hajduk Split (Croatia)

  9. 23 years later it's revealed that the tragedy in Sheffield (tens of Liverpool fans died) was not caused by fans but by the police (or who for it) ...
    nice!!!
  10. This is the worst finding, for me:

The report finds flaws in the police operation and new evidence that the police carried out checks on those who had died in order to "impugn their reputations".

    Disgrace.
  11. yes spitting easy (and sometimes/often false) mud for saving your ass .. typical.
    disgusting
  12. Non-league Bashley Town have written to the Football Association requesting their FA Cup first-round qualifying match against Gosport Borough is replayed after a clear goal was missed by referee Ian Bull.

With the teams level at 2-2, Bashley 'scored' late on after James Stokoe struck from close range, but in frustration the Gosport keeper kicked the ball through the side netting. And, having missed the ball going in, referee Bull then awarded a corner.

"We feel cheated," Bashley vice-chairman Tim Titheridge told BBC Sport.

The incident was also missed by the assistant referee and Bashley went on to lose 3-2 after extra time. It is a mistake Titheridge believes has cost them up to £10,000.
