Well that was thoroughly enjoyable. With the signings of Götze and Guardiola already in place, Bayern are set to become even stronger than they are now. The question is, who else will they sign? Will the gap (let's face it, unless you're Arsenal, there is clearly a gap) get even bigger? Dortmund were no pushovers in Europe, but domestically, they've fallen far too short of Bayern and they face the difficult task of keeping their players in the summer. Anything can happen in one game though and I'm sure we're in for a thrilling final. Bayern would be favourites for me.
Bayern Munich have lost the most finals, equal with Juventus and Benfica on five. So if they lost a sixth, they'll be out there on their own Borussia Dortmund have a 100% record, played one, won one.
Bayern Munich were so keen to kick-start their celebrations after beating Barcelona and making the Champions League final that they left behind midfielder Javi Martinez. The enforcer was reportedly busy saying his goodbyes to Spain team-mates in the Barca ranks after the full-time whistle, but Bayern were in no mood to hang around after their 7-0 aggregate win.
Jupp Heynckes’ men promptly loaded up their coach and set off for their hotel after cruising into the European Cup final for the second year in a row. But for Martinez, he returned to the dressing room to find everybody gone – and needed a cab to join up with the rest of his team. Martinez was eventually reunited with his team-mates later that evening, but no doubt Barcelona wouldn’t have minded picking up the 24-year-old as lost property.
