I still can't get my head around why the winners of the play-offs in England get a trophy, as do the champions of the league but the team that finishes second get nothing.
1. Has to be the week surrounding the Swansea and West Brom games. The atmosphere against Swansea was amazing. It was just one big party celebrating the title and the career of Sir Alex, topped off with a bullet winner from Rio. That was followed by a crazy away game at West Brom for the first 5-5 in Premier League history and there was a great turnout for the trophy parade in between those games.
2. Away game at Man City. Ok, they beat us at Old Trafford, but the climax to the derby at the Etihad was great. Robin van Persie with the winner from a free-kick in front of the United fans. Deserved win, in fact it could've been 3-0 but they immediately attacked and made it 2-1. Then, so late in the game, Zabaleta scored what we thought was the equaliser and with everything going Man City's way, I feared they could steal it. Then boom! Nasri forgot to stand in the wall.
3. Although things didn't work out in the end, the Champions League tie against Real Madrid will live long in the memory. A decade since we last played them (which is still a memorable tie) and it was the first return to Old Trafford for fan favourite, Ronaldo. The first leg was a tense affair, Welbeck scored in front of the travelling fans from a corner to put us 1-0 up, but it was always going to be Ronaldo who pegged us back. The home leg started well, Ronaldo received a great reception as expected and a Ramos own goal strengthened our position in the tie. As we all know, things took a turn for the worse when Nani was sent off. Prior to that, we were in control but the players panicked at 10-men and Mourinho jumped on that by bringing Modric on. A tie of joy and despair.
Elsewhere, there's been some great games in the Champions League this season. The ties between Dortmund and Man City, Dortmund and Madrid, Bayern and Barcelona, Bayern and Arsenal, Malaga and Dortmund. I think the top domestic league have been far too one-sided (not that I complain in England's case) for any real excitement, but there have been some great moments in each of them. Some outstanding goals in the Premier League (van Persie, Cisse, Lowton, Remy, Bale - you'll know the ones if you follow). Also, one of our domestic cups has really stole the limelight this season as there were some really good games in the League Cup.
