I just arrived home after watching the game on a big screen in a city nearby. Thousands and thousands of people were watching in their homes, pubs, big outdoor screens, there were traffic jams like you wouldn't believe. The whole country is on the move when the Red Devils play these last years.
I do not want to brag about the team, or the supporters, but I just wanted to share how crazy and powerful one ball and a bunch of men can be.
If you know something about Belgium, you'll know that it's a pretty weird country. Only 10 million people and still Flanders hates Walloon and vice versa. Nobody likes the German part (entschuldigung). There's quite no national feeling or whatsoever. We're a mismatched country where the biggest political party wants an independant Flanders. We didn't have a government for 541 days. Nobody gave a crap.
And then some men try to go and kick a ball in Brazil, and we're all united.
That's how crazy and important this game is. Bono says music is a powerful tool ? Well, after tonight I'm convinced sports can be too.
You'll probably think I'm exaggerating, but I'm pretty sure that when they would actually go to Brazil and play good there, the Independant Flanders Movement would actually vanish. By one ball and one team.
That's all I wanted to share
