I'd quite like to hear a Boy, but an updated version i.e. them re-releasing it with modern versions...would just be interesting to see how they'd go about it.

And if Edge can remember the solos lol....

  2. on u2.com they didnt mention any remastering of UABRS

it's bound to be the bonus of War. Check the first post of tis topic. It contains all the official info from U2.com so far
  4. I'm most looking forward to UABRS DVD as I've never seen it on VHS. Was it the first time Bono came out with the white flag? Out of the three albums, Boy would gain the most benefit out of a remaster and with Edge behind the wheel, they can't go wrong can they?
  5. I don't know what CD version of Boy some of you heard, but the sound is bad on mine. October was better, War was just as bad as Boy. The best version I have ever heard of Boy is the Japanese Toshiba EMI vinyl I picked up in Hilo in 1988. The War Ultradisc II was released which vastly improved the sound. Even had the "I want to be a airborne ranger" extension during Seconds. October may not need so much sound improvement as the other 2 but it does need to have all of its related singles and b-sides released on something other than vinyl and bootlegs. Though "A Celebration" is available on the CD 'Now That's What I Call Music 1982' UK Millenium series (if you can find it). Boy and War do need sound cleaning though. The vinyls and cassettes sounded much better.

Anybody else remember the MTV announcement back right before the Zooropa release about U2 releasing a box set of b-sides and rarities? I still have that little video segment. No box set ever came forward. And that was supposed to be an official MTV report.

I have all the early stuff on vinyl but they are well played and don't sound as clean as they did when I first got them. So these releases are very welcome. October is still one of my favourite albums.

I just hope they do not artificially insert 5.1 audio into the remasters. Keep it real, Edge.

All the pre-Achtung Baby CD's were a bit fecked in the quality control - other than the MFSL stuff which sounds great and has longer version of some songs.

"Seconds" and "Like a Song" are longer on the MFSL than the regular release - making them the same as the LP and cassette versions. "Seconds" has more soundbits in the movie sample break in the middle. "Like A Song" has a longer jungle drum ending.

"4th of July" is a bit longer on the MFSL version too, if memory serves, and like the War and Joshua Tree MFSL versions = superior sound to the regular CDs.

Hopefully the remastered Boy thru UABRS will have the better sound and the original longer mixes. (Including "Send In The Clowns" on the UABRS) - Time will tell.

There was someone at the lable they met/used around R&H that helped get things better. I think it's mentioned in U2 by U2.

Looking forward to what the Deluxe version might have. Hopefully all the B-sides... and non-album A-sides (Another Day, 11 O'clock Tick Tock) as well as U2-3, the iTunes Early U2 stuff (Street Mission, The Fool, early version of Shadows and Tall Trees) and some unreleased stuff would be greater than great.

OR... wil the 2nd disc be an era appropriate LIVE DVD, like Joshua Tree coming with Paris 1987? Either way I will buy and assuredly enjoy all the "goodies".

The Achtung Baby, Zooropa and POP remasters... once they happen can be fun. There is plenty of live video from all eras of each part of each tour out there that were professionally shot that they could include. And if the packaging and such are in the form of The Joshua Tree ultra deluxe box... It will be complete U2 goodness.

You'd think UABRS will be the Live DVD in the War deluxe set. Hard to believe they'd release UABRS separately then throw in another War-era live show in the War box.

as far as I know it's getting its own release. Amazon Germany ( i think) has a listing for it, along with the other re-issues

Ok. I just don't think they're going to issue 2 War Live DVD's, certainly not in the same year. I don't know what the War deluxe package, if it will be a deluxe pacakge, will consist of when it's released.

it'd be a nice bonus feature, and War will have definitely have a deluxe package as they all will. I think it would be cool though to have a proper UABRS dvd and it makes sense to release it with War, either seperate or together

If anyone knows what will be the bonus DVD in any of the deluxe boxes, I'd be very grateful if you shared it with us...
  12. bring it on!
    i wanna see it!
