HOW ABOUT A 6-CD BOX SET?

All of a sudden, it's like Christmas in July. Allegra points us to this 6-CD Amazon.com exclusive box set, which contains all three upcoming re-issues (Boy, October, and War), plus, mysteriously, "room for a fourth" according to the product description. It's all packaged in a "hardbound shell", and includes a replica poster (which, sadly, will be rendered useless by being folded to fit into the CD-sized packaging). It's available in two weeks, says Amazon.com. And I'm not seeing it on Amazon UK or Amazon Canada.

Hello Hello Birthday present mine's on July 30, just in time!

I'll get all three in the one boxed set if it means a cheaper price. I bet you the 'fourth' space is for the UBRS remaster.

EDIT: Thanks for the update BTW!

the price is about 80 bucks, which probably is cheaper then buying all three deluxe versions at once.....i was thinking the fourth was either for Red Rocks or the new album? but I think Red Rocks makes more sense

    you're welcome!
  3. a heads up for those in the UK in Ireland. HMV will be doing a very very limited release of each of the remasters in a special box including a t-shirt for £35.99. They have not said which format will be in the box (CD, Double CD or CD and Vinyl?) but at the price i'd be expecting at least the double CD and the t-shirt and the box. It will very limited with my local HMV quoted to be only getting 5 each for each album

Hmmm...sounds good to me - will need to have a word with my local HMV in Norwich...

Did you see this entry just below it? Looks like we're getting the full Red Rocks concert on DVD. Awesome!

U2's upcoming DVD release of U2 Live at Red Rocks - Under A Blood Red Sky has just been classified on the British Board of Film Classification web site. Have a look at the entry. Didya notice the running time on that DVD release? 171 minutes, 12 seconds! Huzzah!

The entry shows a Red Rocks concert at 1 hour, 21 minutes, and then the concert again with commentary, and then an extra "featurette." The running time on my Red Rocks VHS comes in at a paltry 55 minutes, so does this mean we're getting the complete, unedited concert? How great would that be?

Boy, then October. Couldn't care less for War - I have an unopened original CD of it anyway from a few years ago, so I'm in no rush.

Absolutely I can't wait for Red Rocks either for 3+ hours - my VHS only comes in at about 55mins in total as well, but it has the Send In The Clowns snippet during Electric. Co, which many didn't. Plus I picked it up cheap as well and converted it to DVD.

War's only got silly remixes virtually. Still, have to have it! Not seeing anything in Oz about a boxed set with all 3 deluxes...

I'd say it's an Amazon.com exclusive then. Hopefully JB's gonna get it in.

The US New Year's Day Remix was quite good (heard it on Myspace) - don't know whether that's previously released material or what, either way I liked it lol.

I don't think I'll spend the best part of $30-$50 for some remixes.

To clarify by "silly" I meant "they're just remixes"...I would have much preferred live tracks. Like St Goarhausen perhaps. While I like a good remix just as much as the next fan, there's only so many remixes of Two Hearts one can swallow.

Fair kop, I'm considering the economical downside at this moment in time...I don't earn a lot, and the best part of £70+, whilst potentially satisfying my soul's desire to buy U2 material, probably won't be the wisest plan unless I get an influx of cash soon lol.

Well, I don't have any but I can't I feel that bad about it lol.
