1. Nothing popped up on the search so i thought i would ask, how does everybody label their bootlegs, a curiosity question more than anything.
I label the artist as "U2 Live" to avoid the bootlegs getting mixed with the Studio stuff (it looks messy on my iPod).
I have the name of the tour, followed by the Venue, town province and country, then the date. Heres one of the Elevation shows from New York as an example:

Track name - Walk On (Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, USA, 25/10/2001)
Album name - Elevation: Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, USA, 25/10/2001

    How others do theirs?
  2. Are you speaking of the id3-tags ?

    I use this pattern:

    U2 - Into The Heart (1981 02-12 - Den Haag)

In order to separate live and studio stuff, I use the genre-option: live stuff is labelled "U2 live", studio stuff is labelled "rock"

Album names for ipod are made "1981 02-12 - Den Haag" eg.
  3. Artist name: U2
Song name: Just the title, like With or Without You, and I number every song in the ID3-tag, avoiding song title's like 11 - Sunday Bloody Sunday for example.
The studio albums just have their own names and for each bootleg I do as follows:

    Vertigo Tour, Melbourne 11-19-2006

So I just say the city's name plus the data. In some cases, I might add the name of the venue, like with Point Depot:

    Lovetown Tour, Point Depot 12-30-1989

And when it is a DVD-rip, I just add (DVD):

Elevation Tour, Slane Castle 09-01-2001 (DVD)

So every tour is ranked, starting with Boy and ending with Zoo TV.

yep, there the ones i meant, the names a bit to technical for me lol

  5. I also have U2 and U2 Live. My live tracks are labeled as Vertigo (Live from Saitama - 2006-12-04). All 4000 tracks are like that
  6. I do

    For song:
Song Title / Snippet (Live Day Month Year, Location, City)

    For Album title

    Tour name: City

    For example

All I Want Is You / Never Tear Us Apart (Live 3 Dec '97, Foro Sol Autodromo, Mexico City) is from POPMART: Mexico City
  7. Unfortunately I'm way too lazy to label all that over5000 tracks with a unique method. But I've tried many times to establish:

    Artist: U2
    Title: Song / Snippets
    Year: Year
    Genre: Rock
Album: YYYY-MM-DD (without any tour indication, I know perfectly that 1987 is Joshua and1997 is PoP )

Actually, most of my collection is nowadays labelled so. Ther emus tbe about 1000 songs to label yet. Someday, someday, someday....
  8. Here's how I do it. Will use Zooropa Dublin for an example.

    Artist: U2
    Year: 1993
    Genre: Rock
Album: Zoo TV Dublin - 8/28/1993

And for songs, we'll use The Fly from the same Show.

Song: The Fly (Live from Dublin, 8/28/1993)
  9. For American shows, it's as follows

    Artist: U2
Track: Two Hearts Beat As One (Live from Denver, Colorado, 05/06/1983)
Album: Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver, Colorado (05/06/1983)

So tracks go Name (Live from City, State, Date)
Albums go Venue, City, State (Date)

    For English shows;

Track: Where The Streets Have No Name (Live from London, 12/06/1987)
    Album: Wembley Stadium, London (12/06/1987)

Simply use the city. No county/country business.

    For European/Rest of the world shows;

Track: Touch (Live from Amsterdam, 15/10/1980)
Album: The Milkyway, Amsterdam, Netherlands (15/10/1980)

Then for each show, they have the tour name as their grouping, which then contributes to a smart playlist for each tour.
  10. Well, all my 1055 bootlegs are like this, based on u2-vertigo-tour.com.

    First, you have the folders:
    1980 - Boy tour
    1981 - October tour
    etc.

    Then you have more folders:
    Leg 1 - Europe
    Leg 2 - North America
    etc.

Then you have the shows in folders:
2005-07-13 - Amsterdam, the Netherlands - Amsterdam ArenA
(for US: Boston, Massachusetts - Fleet Center)

If there are more sources that I think are worth to have, it's like this:
2005-07-13 - Amsterdam, the Netherlands - Amsterdam ArenA (IEM, 5 stars)
2005-07-13 - Amsterdam, the Netherlands - Amsterdam ArenA (Audience, 4 stars)

    Then you have the filenames:
01 - Where The Streets Have No Name.mp3
    02 - I Will Follow.mp3
I only use 2-digit track numbers and the song titles just as on the album, never shortened. Also the filename "cover.jpg" is available with every bootleg, if there is no cover the related album cover is used.

Then all files are tagged with idv3, like this:
    Artist: U2
Song: The Electric Co. / Light My Fire (snippet)
    Album: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
All snippets are included in all songs, and my MSN nickname goes like this when I play a tune:
U2 - The Electric Co. / Light My Fire (snippet) (2005 - Amsterdam, the Netherlands)

My lovely foobar2000 music player displays it just the way I like, fully customized

    http://www.remy.tv/upload/1186941451.jpg

All this took me a lot of time, but I'm a well organised man (isn't U2start the most organized website you've ever seen ) and I love it! I think you all even met my structure yet in the many bootlegs I uploaded here.

  11. that foobar is nice!
  12. I don't think there's a better app than Foobar for music. Plus it manages your iPod as well - no iTunes needed ever again. Anyone know any good FB2000 skins?

As per to Daley's original question, I label mine like this:

Album: Vertigo Tour - 2006-11-11 - Sydney / Song: The Fly

If I get the recording info (like the taper's name, position, equipment etc) I add that to the comments too with the album art (the iPod classic almost necessitates it).
