I have Koln, but I'm not parting ways with it....
  3. This is a true story .When i got married in '02 a friend of mine in the U.S wanted to know what to get my wife and i for a present ,so the wife asked for bed sheets (as women tend to). Months had past after the big day and we never saw the sheets so i thought my mate had forgotten or couldn 't afford them (either way i wasn't that bothered). Then one day i phoned him ,asked him "whats he up to" and he said he was on ebay. I then said could you look for U2 s 'War Is Declared',its something i ve spent years trying to get a copy of,and there it was priced at $150. He then asked me if i'd like it as a late wedding present obviously said YES ,checked with the wife and she was cool with it .He bid for it and eventually got it for alot more. I remember seeing it at a record fair in '84 for £75 which is what i was earning a week ,couldn't justify blowing a weeks pay on it, and then never saw it again untill it turned up in the post nearly 20 years later.I've only played it 3 times ,last time to burn it onto cd and i keep it in the box it was posted in . So, i've still got the wife and War is Declared so everyones a winner!

hawt! I would actually wear them
  7. Here's something cool that I have that I treasure...

Edge doesn't actually play with the purple ones. The blue one was Edge used, as can be seen by the wear.
  8. I got this singed by 3/4 of U2 March 26th 2005.

Bono and Edge signed the front cover...

Adam Clayton signed his Pop era piccy inside the booklet...

    It is now story time!
It was the day before the LA Dress rehearsal. A few friends and I had waited patiently all day. Keep in mind, the Sports Arena is not in the nicest of neighborhoods. In fact, it's in So. Central LA.

From our lil spot across from the Sports Arena, we could hear U2 play songs. We'd almost pee ourselves as we heard yet another long lost classic... "Gloria", "An Cat Dubh /Into The Heart"...

As night came, we waited patiently... finally just after midnight... out comes Adam Clayton!
He walked the line of the 20 or so people, taking pictures and signing things.

He was more than happy to answer questions.
ME - Will you be playing "Even Better Than The Real Thing" this tour?
ADAM - "I don't think so as we played it a lot on the last few tours."
ME - "You only played it 10 times on the Elevation tour; 11 if you count the promo show in Paris".
ADAM - (laughed) "You fans always know these things better than us".

ME - "A Man And A Woman" had one of his slinkiest and sexy bass lines.
ADAM - "Yeah, it's one of my favorite bass lines on the album."
ME - Will you be playing it on this tour?"
    ADAM - "I don't think so".

Bono was the next to come out. The limo came out of the parking lot and then The B-Man approached the line of us. He was in good spirits, answered questions (I'd asked if they'd play "Mercy". Bono was surprised that I'd heard it. He joked "So YOU'VE got The Edge's missing CD". Before signing he asked: "How do you spell buffalo?" I spelled it for him and hence, his signing my CD booklet "Buffalo Bono".

A few mins later, another limo came out of the gate. It passed us by and we let out a collective sad "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..." but then... the limo stopped and backed up. There was then a collective "Yay!". Out popped our guitar hero - The Edge. He walked down the line of us, shaking hands and greeting each of us. After getting to me and the end of the line, he excused himself and went back to the front of the line to take pictures and sign autographs. Now THAT - is class.

Here's a piccy of Bono with someone very near and dear to me.

    Good times!
  9. Anstratdubh, that is so fantastic.

Can you please have your own topic to tell us every single story that you have about encountering U2? We can live vicariously through your stories!

HA--Bono asking how to spell buffalo! Awesome!

I can't believe Edge went through twice! The epitome of class right there!

    Wow

Man wat a story you should write a book
  11. Another cool thing that I have collected is original BOY, OCTOBER and UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY CD's in DIGIPAK packaging. (MINT condition) WITH the original LONG BOXES. (Remember those?)

Admittedly, I paid WAY too much for them on E-Bay. Each was in a separate auction. But being a silly U2 fan and collector... I HAD to have them! I mean, COME ON... they were in MINT condition!

    (How's that for rationalizing?)

Oh yes... I also have the cardboard sleeve version The Best of 1980-1990 and The Best of 1990-2000 . (both were promos). The Best of 1990-2000 I rec'd from a website for helping promote the release of The Best of 1990-2000 with banner ads and such on my U2 Atomic site. (Most of the gear stuff from U2 Atomic multiple sites are being consolidated into the newer all in one site of www.u2-stage-and-studio.com )
