Yep, considering its just over thirty years old, you would have to presume that maybe about 30% of the original 1000 have been lost due to natural attrition as you say. I'll certainly be keeping mine safe.
PS: Sorry bout the outbidding. For what its worth, I got into a whole lotta trouble with the missus for getting it. The conversation after the auction ended went something like this:
me: hey babe, remember that U2 record on ebay i was looking at?
her: what record?
me: an early U2 vinyl, really rare, any way I won it
her: how much was it?
me: $xxxx
dead silence for a short period,
her: you spent how much on a vinyl record ????
me: er, about $xxxx, you remember me telling you about how i was gonna bid on it dont you?
her: uh, no you never mentioned that to me.
me: yeah i did, surely you remember!
the tone of the conversation sorta went downhill from there!
NICE!!
The top two items on my collectors lists are the numbers U2-Three 12" and the AUS 'Pride' clear 12".... in both cases my wife has seen the value on Ebay and understands that one day I will be purchasing them... (I have also promised her a vacation if/when i do!)
cheers
