  6. To anyone interested: an additional, and to me, important upgrade to this recording is to adjust the speed. Tape players were not entirely reliable in the 1980s and to my ear this recording is faster than real time. I found that slowing it down exactly 2.5%, .975 of the original is really necessary. I have dealt with a lot of sped up and slowed down tapes over the years in my own collection so perhaps this is more apparent to me than to others.

    There are any number of programs to do the processing - I prefer Goldwave. If you use it the effect you want is called "Time warp". If you prefer Audacity I'm sure will do the same thing.
