1. Hoping someone can help me out on this:

I was listening to the 1979-06-28 bootleg, and I compared it to the 1980-02-26 National Stadium bootleg. The tracks from '79 gig sound exactly the same as the tracks by the same name from the '80 gig. The tracks from '79 gig are in a different order, but the songs themselves sound the same. You can hear it particularly in the start of "Trevor" and "Boy-Girl" (if you listen to the '80 gig to the end of "Twilight," which comes right before Boy-Girl, Bono talks about a camera being lost; in the '79 gig, it's the same thing right at the beginning of Boy-Girl).

Does anyone have these two shows and confirm that the songs sound similar?

    The '79 gig: http://www.u2start.com/bootlegs/1979-06-28/Dublin,%20Ireland%20-%20McGonagle's/
    The '80 gig: http://www.u2start.com/bootlegs/1980-02-26/Dublin,%20Ireland%20-%20National%20Stadium%20/
  2. looks like we have a false bootleg for the 79 gig. Achtungbootlegs doesn't list any known audio source for the 79 gig. We' get Remy to confirm his source for the 79 show and to remove it if it does turn out to be a made up bootleg. Thanks for spotting
  3. My guess is that the source for the 79 show is a bootleg called "Bono works at McGonagles" which is indeed a hoax.

No problem. Kinda sucks, not only because it's a fake, but it's the earliest show on here.

I've seen that cover everywhere (well, on websites), with Bono leaning on the McGonagle's sign. I never knew it was a hoax.

Yeah, achtungbaby-online.de doesn't have anything listed for it....interesting.
  6. we have a bogus one. Over to you Remy
  7. Removed, thanks!
