Yeah but the DVD is compiled from 2 different performances, so they'd probably have mixed audio from 2 different soundboards - Edge is shown playing both a green and a red Rickenbacker on the actual DVD, which, great as he is, he's not THAT good I'm afraid, so even if the thing about the pick is true, I reckon they'll probably have slapped the audio from one of the other nights to compensate for any difference as a result
  2. Edge said that he threw the guitar down as "the band murdered the song". A friend of mine that was right in front of him also told me that Edge had had issues with the guitar used for the previous song that night and it was yet another of a few technical difficulties that show. So by "Gone", it was the last straw, I suppose. And even our beloved Guitar Hero can have 'a moment.

As for the comments about the colours of the RIckenbackers...

Check the colour setting on your TV mate. Or have you a bit of colour blindness? (hahahaha - just messing with you)

    A green and red Rickenbacker?

The main Ric used, that Edge threw to the ground was his 1967 "Fireglo" finish Rickenbacker 330 12-string. Fireglo is a sunburst-like finish that is burgundy-ish on the outer edges and fades to amber/yellow-ish on the 1960's models like the one's that Edge has.

The replacement also seen in the Boston DVD is a "Jetglo" (Rickenbackers name for black) RIckenbacker 360 12-string.

    Other Rickenbacker information...
The 1967 Fireglo RIck is the one he had since R&H and was later "drown" when HQ flooded in Jan 2002 whilst U2 were playing the SuperBowl.

The "Fireglo" Ric used for "Sometimes..." is a 1965 and not the aforementioned drowned 1967. The "Mapleglo" 330 12-string used for Mysterious Ways on the Vertigo tour was a 1966 model

I don't mean the Ric was green AND red lol, sorry, I meant he's seen playing 2 DIFFERENT guitars, one being greenish and one being reddish during the same performance, hence what I mean by them coupling together 2 different performances lol, and why the audio sounds good because I reckon they used a good quality performance and slapped it onto the visuals for the DVD...

I don't pretend to be a guitar officionado by any stretch of the imagination, I just play the bloody things lol! I can stretch as far as differentiating between a Gibson Explorer and a Strat. lol , but the one thing I AM sure of is that my eyes are in fairly good working order lol

Some good info. regarding the guitars though mate
  4. WojBhoy is correct. on the DVD, Edge can be seen playing 2 different guitars. They're different colours.

Ha, proof that it ain't just me then! lol.
  6. WojBhoy:
I dont' debate that there are two guitars seen in the Boston DVD. I was clarifying that they are neither red nor green.

The one tossed to the floor was the 1967 330 that is in the "Fireglo" (Rickenbacker's name for the fiinish). Fireglo is burgundy on the outside edge that fades to an amber color. But under the red lights, might appear red. Fair enough.

The second guitar is not green. It is Jet glo (Rickenbacker's name for black)

I'm quoting this post as it's shorter than your first.

    Just wanted to say:

Bloody Hell. How do you know all this stuff??!!

And........... there were two guitars. Most of us know this. Their colour is irrelevant (to most ). Let's leave it at that shall we
  8. Well it appears it's all in how you edit it. After watching this it doesn't look as bad as it did on the DVD. (It happens at the very end.)

The going off on Larry part is on the DVD. I can't believe I'm so fascinated by this. I'm acting like it's the Zapruder film for crying out loud. I need to get a life.

Aha, sorry, then it must be my eyes lol...it's the way the light caught it... lol
  10. That doesn't seem to be enough to break the guitar...was it?

lol, I ain't going to try myself just to find out for sure I'm afraid, but I can imagine it can't be that good for one lol...
  12. Tossing a Rickenbacker or any guitar to the floor is not so good for the guitar. Edge's was damaged. But Dallas was able to get it repaired, eventually.

That guitar has since 'drowned' in the flood that occured at HQ while U2 were playing the SuperBowl in 2002.

The Jetglo / Black 360 seen in the DVD had been in Edge's guitar cases and seen in pics and in person, under the stage since PopMart. Seems it's only seen the stage at one or two of the Boston Elevation shows, until the main Ric was repaired.

"How do I know all this stuff"? Well I obviously have WAY too muct time on my hands!

That said, being a guitarist and fan... I tend to pay attention to silly things like guitars and such.

    And to: WojBhoy
I meant no offence or anything. That is why I joked about checking your TV.
