  1. My other thread got me thinking. Even superstars like U2 aren't immune to Murphy's Law. What technical (not vocal) glitches have you witnessed at shows?

    At the L.A. Pop Mart show Edge's guitar died during the opening of "I Will Follow". As it started cutting out he turned around and Dallas appeared from his underworld with a back-up. In the brief guitar free moment that took place during the exchange Bono looked over at edge and air guitared. You can hear it on the 1997/06/21 show.

  2. 2001-06-22 - East Rutherford features 2 technical glitches involving Edges guitars. The first comes during Sunday Bloody Sunday when Edges guitar completely shuts off. Bono fills in a line of 'Edges changing his guitar, mothers children, brother sisters torn about' as Dallas comes out with an identical guitar to replace it with.

    The second occurs during the muted guitar part during Streets just before 'Loove loove lovve'. Edge skips the muted guitar bit and again grabs a replacement guitar from Dallas just in time for 'love love love'. His guitar sounded fine up until that point though.     "WHERE IS the fly!?" ...gotta love Bono for his "handling of situations" system! The bit you mentioned from SBS is hilarious! Also this one, not really a technical problem, but still a problem well handled (posted round here some time ago):

    in one of the i pod videos you uploaded , could be gateshead but was one the early shows bono's microphone fails during out of control and he has to steal edges who struggles to get his backing vocals in . can you shed some light on which show . fairly certain its gateshead .

    That's HILARIOUS!! I never seen anything like that before. The classic part is he has TWO people helping him. One for each foot I guess.
  6. Discotheque, opening night of POPMART in Vegas. No guitar! Ack. Then Edge lost his pick in the smoke machine fog...

    New Years Day on Wash DC Outside Broadcast. Edge had a tough show there.

    Even Better Than The Real Thing, San Jose 4-19-2001... his delay went out.... Bono came over after the tune, laughing and patting him on the back.

    These things happen. And as for the technical glitches... Dallas is spot on in fixing them. Go Dallas!

  8. mtv music awards ........... the power went as the band started elevation and they had to go to a break to sort out the problem . The band played elevation after the break with bono joking that mtv had not paid their electric bill
