1. This seems like a good topic idea.

Best vocals: The Unforgettable Fire. Bono had his falsetto perfect at that point.
Best guitar: I'm partial to JT myself. Really the album that defines U2 as far as guitar goes.
Best drrums: Probally War. Some very nice snare usage.
Best bass: Hard choice really. Adam isin't that good of a bass player for technique but he is pretty inovative. I like Jt personally. Just preference really.

If this takes off I intend to add categories like hardest, best ballads, etc.

Even if he only managed a week, at least it's U2 related

I'm no musician, but here's mine:

Best vocals: Unforgettable Fire. Bono's got the strength and enthusiasm of War, but it's much more controlled. ASOH--just gorgeous.
    Best guitar: UF and Bomb
    Best drums: Achtung Baby
    Best bass: JT

I think this is a great idea for a topic.
  6. Best Drums: JT
(the beautiful wide open reverb in WTSHNN, the rainy-soft "strumming" of RTAST, Exit, the heartbeat pulse of WOW...I know pre JT, Larry was very much a crucial part of the identity of the band but for me, JT was the first album I noticed talent, heart & soul behind a drumkit)

    Best Bass: A,B!
(Mysterious Ways, Zoo Station...yeah the Edge was all over this album but in my opinion, his work was adding colors to an album drawn out in thick, black bassy lines by our man Clayton. Easily my bass album of choice)

    Best Guitar: R&H
(Rattle & Hum?! For Edge? As of right now, that's how I feel, yeah. I mean the first original U2 song you hear on it is Edge's beautiful lament, Van Diemen's Land. Its the last U2 album free of distortion and in your face experimentation. You don't hear a studio and mixer here, just acoustic strings, a voice and a lot of heart)

    Best Vocals: ATYCLB
(Yeah, yeah, REAL U2 fans know that Bono 'doesn't have his voice' anymore but I never take self righteous fans serious anyway.* Kite is absolutely heartbreaking and powerfully uplifting and its all in Bono's voice. The hurt, the comfort, the teary-eyed smile turned to the future. Its all there. The way he sings 'Don't want to see you cry' always gets me. And of course the 'I'm a maaaan'. Wow.
But I'm not just biased by my favorite U2 song**. The scratchy, dried-out hang-over in In a Little While, the soft lullaby in Grace, the cock-sure lift off in Elevation, the pleading reach in Ground Beneath Her Feet, the underlying anger and frustration in Peace on Earth....
What can I say? Hook, line and singer, Bono reeled me in with this album all the way)

    *myself not included
    **yes, I am.

Got a point there about ATYCLB
  8. difficult....good one aaron!

Drums: The Joshua Tree: Innovation + Skill=Larry's finest work.

Bass: I'd have to say Pop. Adam had just finished taking bass lessons according to a story I heard and it shows. If you really pay attention (Mofo, Please, IGWSHA, Do You Feel Loved, Etc...) Its a real bass-oriented kinda sound they had going on that record.

Guitar: Achtung Baby: Its got the raw sounds and the soft stuff. Its like a best of Edge skills record lol

Vocals: Hands down Unforgettable Fire. This record totally changed the sound of his voice. (Listen to War, then listen to Unforgettable Fire.) Some of Bono's most unforgettable (no pun intended ) vocals came out of this album. Pride, Bad, ASOH, UF. Just all around great vocal driven record.

  9. Best vocals: R&H
    Best guitar: Achtung baby
Best drrums: October - Rejoice & Fire are good examples.
    Best bass: War

  10. Best Vocals: The Joshua Tree

  11. Best vocals? - TUF

    Best bass? - AB
    Best drums? - AB
  12. What the hell is RTAST?
