The responses on Twitter show that Kendrick Lamar fans are still uncultured swine, but the article itself is very well written and ultimately raises the question of why such an unlikely collaboration occurred. I think in general people undervalue rap artists, but rightfully do so considering most of rap/hip hop these days is mindless drivel about sex, drugs, money, and women. This issue has been addressed by several rappers who have criticized the genre for glorifying trash instead of honoring its roots as an outlet to address social justice issue. I'd be very curious to hear Kendrick Lamar's own reasoning/
  10. I wouldn't say most of hip hop. A lot of it is very spiritual, political, and meaningful. Unfortunately (just like every other genre) the good stuff isn't what's being played on the radio. Rock n roll was heavily criticized for the same stuff a few decades ago. Promoting sex, drugs, violence, etc. Rap is rock n roll, just in a different form. I would say if anyone is looking for good meaningful rap, check out Malibu by Anderson Paak specifically the track The Bird. Very very good, and hasn't got any airtime on the radio despite Grammy nominations.

    Not sure I follow...the responses on Twitter to this article or to the song itself? Most of what I've read of fan reactions has been very positive regarding the Kendrick/U2 collaboration.
