Whilst tax avoidance is not illegal in and of itself (unlike tax evasion), it appears this particular company are using an 'unlawful accounting technique' *if* that BBC article is accurate.
As shrewd and business savvy as Bono is, would he be involved in the minutiae of all that his accountants do in order to minimise his tax liabilities? I can't imagine so. Should he be? I don't know, I would say probably not, afterall what is he? A philanthropist social activist rock star, or an accountant?
