    Whilst tax avoidance is not illegal in and of itself (unlike tax evasion), it appears this particular company are using an 'unlawful accounting technique' *if* that BBC article is accurate.

    As shrewd and business savvy as Bono is, would he be involved in the minutiae of all that his accountants do in order to minimise his tax liabilities? I can't imagine so. Should he be? I don't know, I would say probably not, afterall what is he? A philanthropist social activist rock star, or an accountant?
    Thought they would be super cautious after the Ossie Kilkenny saga years ago..

  3. Yeah you would hope so. Anyway looks like they're digging up other names now. Seems its an industry that needs some tighter regulation and compliance procedures.

  7. Yeah, looks like they're feasting upon Lewis Hamilton currently. Have to admit have seen a little clip from tonights Panorama expose and the whole Lord Ashcroft thing looks hilarious.

    Yeah, I saw a figure earlier of £40k or thereabouts, not particularly shocking shocking or gargantually huge, unlike some of the higher echelons of the 'elite' no doubt.
