1. I really don't see why people care. It holds some validity; I suppose it could have been worded better.
  2. I think it was a bit of a clumsy use of words. If the comment comes across as sexist, which I guess is what some people have been saying, then they need only to look at his actions which prove he is far from sexist. Unfortunately the world we live in some people will disregard his actions and jump all over the comment and label him sexist but big deal, he’s been called a lot worse I’m sure.
  3. "I sang like a girl -- which I'm into now, but when I was 17 or 18, I wasn't sure. And I heard Joey Ramone, who sang like a girl, and that was my way in." Sexist pig.

  4. It's ridiculous to call Bono a sexist (which I don't think anyone here is doing). Maybe he just meant there is a certain "manly" quality in music he doesn't see as often anymore. I see nothing wrong with that.

If he said it was "effeminate" or "non-masculine" would it have made a difference?
  6. I wasn’t offended by the comment in the first place nor do I think it was wrong in general. I just know in this day and age plenty of people would regard that as a sexist comment, I wouldn’t agree with them but I know they’re out there. As you and germcevoy said people love a bit of controversy.
  7. Anytime websites can get a headline that is negative they will run with it. In this case Reddit is just blasting him, I can't read it because it gets me too worked up. They really hate him on Reddit and they never talk about the good things he has done. Really a shame that people will get caught up on a sentence without any context.

Oh, I know... I wasn't directing at you. In this day and age, no matter what word choice you use, odds are someone will kick and scream...

It's funny, that interview was so in depth and so detailed and covered so much ground, and it's 1/2 a sentence that's grabbing the headlines...
