    Just a FYI: That term comes with some contention. There can be a negative connotation to it insinuating Newfoundlanders are stupid and goofy. Others embrace it with pride. I don’t care but prefer not to be called that based on the connotation. Haha

  6. I don’t know. I’ve never heard anyone be offended by Frenchie. As I said there is some negative connotation to the term Newfie that suggests we are stupid, gullible, backward, etc.

    I have friend from Quebec whom I met in Vancouver and he said people call them "frenchies" in mocking, offending way...
