  1. No I'm not. And if you know that period of U2 you would know he was being delibaretly provocative.

    The reason people like him in the first place is because he is a Rock star. He defies normal morality and convention.

    I enjoy smoking and can control it as I see fit. It's taboo nowadays but let people make their own decisions. We are aware of the consequences.
  2. It's true his occupation requires him to consider his voice. But some singers claim it enhances their timber.
  3. The vocal issues he had on tour in 97 are pretty evident. The smoking and the booze finally caught up with him by then. You can only not take care of yourself for so long.

    I wonder if he had a similar scare to Ronnie Wood, a spot on his lungs etc. that had to be removed.

    The booze/smoke had some effect but I think the main thing that gave him the voice problem was the overuse of his voice, all the straining on Lovetown did a lot of damage on his voice.
    The difference of his voice 1989/Early 1990 to his 1991 voice is huge, which shows that LT tour did alot harm on hus vocal Chords.
