    I don't think they "say" nothing, they just reserve your copy - and that's all. When the album arrives, they call you, you buy it. Simple. But I think that "reserves" are not binding contracts, so I don't think you could claim or protest in any way if the album doesn't arrive on that date.

    Yeah i guess, but they must know aleast whats coming to have the reserve sign out; just seems strange that this is the first thing we have heard, though the chances are its just HMV getting abit ahead of themselves

    Maybe not. It could be correct.


  4. i'll check tomorrow and see if its in stores south of the border. Might speed up a U2.com annoucement if record stores start giving out dates

    The difference is that the in store display, says title TBC and has a date listed while the site says 'Songs of Ascent' and has no date listed.

    It could well be that the website listing is purely speculative (as many retailers do for games and music releases) while the store display is based on new information. Universal would have advised retailers of upcoming releases and it probably had a new U2 album down to release on that date.
    Cause there's no way HMV would just make up an exact date (ie. they might say Q4 2010 or something but not an exact date unless they were given it).

    So there is hope.
  11. I never trust things like this. Release dates, even at stores and on websites can be misleading and false.

    I remember a few months back, a friend and I were waiting for a video game to get announced, and it still hasn't, but a video game store (gamestop) had it on their list of games that have been announced and that are being released. They even had dates. The dates were wrong, they hadn't been announced, and the dates that they said have come and passed and nothing, and eventually the game got taken off of the list, and they made a big mistake.

    That was my anecdote. Essentially, I'll believe it when I hear U2 themselves (or Paul) say it.
