    Zucchero canta Bono Vox Questa notte, mercoledì 22 aprile, in occasione del 50° Anniversario della Giornata Mondiale della Terra (Earth Day), Zucchero in una Piazza Colosseo deserta a ROMA ha eseguito per la prima volta in assoluto l’inedito ed emozionante brano “CANTA LA VITA”, tratto da “Let Your Love Be Know” di Bono Vox con il testo in italiano a firma di Zucchero. “Canta la vita” è l’ennesima conferma di un sodalizio artistico che lega Zucchero e Bono da molti anni. In un periodo così complesso come quello che stiamo attraversando, questa canzone è un messaggio positivo di speranza e conforto per tutti. Un inno alla Vita. Un’esibizione unica in cui, nell’inciso finale, le voci di entrambi gli artisti si fondono e uniscono, per lanciare un messaggio mondiale di grande unione. «Questa canzone è nata nella fase iniziale dell’emergenza – racconta ZUCCHERO – Quando ho sentito Bono, eravamo entrambi molto scossi dalla drammaticità del momento che il Nord Italia stava vivendo. Però quello che ci ha colpito è stata la reazione delle persone, vederle e sentirle sui balconi cantare. Quindi ci siamo detti che avremmo dovuto fare qualcosa per sottolineare che il canto è una grande forma di resistenza. In un dramma come quello che stiamo vivendo, attraverso il canto si può essere più vicini, si può reagire insieme, in tutte le parti del mondo. La musica, attraversa i muri ed accorcia le distanze».     Tonight, Wednesday, April 22, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of World Earth Day, Zucchero in a deserted Colosseum Square in ROME performs for the first time ever the new and exciting song "CANTA LA VITA", taken from "Let Your Love Be Know" by Bono Vox with the Italian lyrics by Zucchero.

    "Canta la vita" is the umpteenth confirmation of an artistic partnership that links Zucchero and Bono for many years. In such a complex period like the one we are going through, this song is a positive message of hope and comfort for everyone. A hymn to Life. A unique performance in which, in the final recording, the voices of both artists merge and unite, to launch a worldwide message of great union. "This song was born in the initial phase of the emergency - says ZUCCHERO - When I heard Bono, we were both very shaken by the drama of the moment that Northern Italy was experiencing. But what struck us was the reaction of the people, seeing them and hearing them singing on the balconies. So we said to ourselves that we should do something to emphasize that singing is a great form of resistance. In a drama like the one we are experiencing, through singing you can be closer, you can react together, in all parts of the world. Music, it crosses walls and shortens distances".

  12. I like it, though definitely prefer Bono's earlier version, but then again I would imagine most of us here on U2Start are likely biased that way anyhow.

    If covid19 wasn't a thing right now. you can kinda imagine the band and production crew spending months refining this and totally overcooking it with mixing before releasing it on a new album, or on the other hand shelving it because it doesn't fit the concept / narrative of whatever the new album is.

    Yet that first unpolished version Bono sang a few weeks ago was an absolute gem, albeit a slightly unpolished one - but Bono sounded beautiful on it - the melody, tone and poignancy were just perfect, and even more so considering the subject matter - imho at least.

    I wonder how many rough gems the band have discarded or put in the vaults down the years for one reason or another that will never see the light of day.

    If there's more gas in the tank in the next few years for U2 and when this awful pandemic is beaten, then I do hope the band refrain from this endless mixing / production we've had over the last 15 years or so, and go with some gut instinct on any future albums.

    Sometimes I'm sure the song is pretty much 'there' right away with the exception of a little bit of polish.
