    U2 break Rolling Stones' record for highest-grossing tour of all time: Have you seen it yet? Take our poll

    In one of the few measurable victories Ireland gets over Great Britain, U2 recently surpassed the Rolling Stones’ record for highest-grossing tour of all-time with their U2 360° Tour. Erin, go Brag!

    England’s oldest hitmakers previously held the record after raking in $558 million from 2005 to 07 for their A Bigger Bang Tour, but U2—who are still touring behind their 2009 release No Line On the Horizon—are set to take in more than $700 million by the time U2 360 wraps in late July. With 26 shows to go, the Irish quarter are almost ready to get back to saving the world/destroying Broadway.
    Lead guitarist aside, U2 has an edge on the Stones when it comes to pulling in the Euros/dollars/reais on this tour: the band’s current “in the round” setup (U2 360°—get it?) has allowed them to pack more fans in each arena.

    That doesn’t mean U2 360° has been immediately more profitable than the Stones’ tour, however. U2’s manager admitted that the overhead cost for this endeavor is about 750,000 U.S. dollars a day, show or no show.

    A huge part of the cost is “The Claw,” a traveling stage apparatus that looks more suited to the first wave of the alien invasion than directing attention to that guy singing “it’s a beautiful daaaaayyyy!” Get a sense of its mammoth size in this video:

    The Claw takes four days to set up each time, which forces the band to use three of these insect-like monstrosities on the road. At any point during the tour one is in use, another is being built, and yet another is being deconstructed and moved to the next location.

    During this monday, Bono spent the day with the ex-president Lula and the Minister of Economics Guido Mantega.

    Midia reported that was Bono's wish to talk with both. At the meetings, Bono talked about poverty and ways to fight against it, specially in Africa.

    "Swizz Beatz Builds ‘Skyscrapers’ with Kanye West and Bono on New Album"

    Swizz Beatz is reaching stadium status on his second album Haute Living. The producer-rapper landed a coveted collaboration with U2’s Bono and Kanye West for a track called “Skyscrapers.”

    While promoting his partnership with Reebok, Swizzy revealed the all-star cut. “It’s me, Bono, and Kanye on this one song called ‘Skyscrapers,’” he told Paper magazine. “I recorded with Kanye in the studio and then I recorded with Bono in this actual studio right here.”

    Haute Living has already spawned the Eve-assisted single “Everyday (Coolin’)” and “Rock ‘N’ Roll” featuring Lil Wayne, Lenny Kravitz, and Travis Barker. Other guests include Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and John Legend. But the songs are no ordinary collabos. “They’re on the album in super amazing ways,” said Swizz. “It’s not like a compilation—it’s a nice mixture of creativity. I had no boundaries with it.”

    The Irish group's bass player, Adam Clayton, claims their 2009 single 'Get on Your Boots' "confused people" because it was so deeply layered, and since they stripped it down for their present 360 Degree tour they have had a better reaction to it.

    He told Rolling Stone magazine: "Interestingly, it's going off live. I think probably what happened was it's a common U2 problem. I think we probably worked on it and worked on it and worked on it, and instead of executing one idea well, I think we had probably five ideas in the song, and it just confused people. They weren't sure what they were hearing."

    The group's lead singer, Bono, claims, however, their audience are just not "groovy" enough to appreciate their attempts at marrying genres such as dance and rock together.

    He added: "Look, sometimes our audience isn't as groovy as we'd like. 'Get on Your Boots,' as it was released, is a sort of crossover, half-club, half-indie-rock record.

    "People are not sure about the club side of U2. They want 'Vertigo.' And when we did this the last time - with 'Discotheque,' from 'Pop', they didn't like it either."
