  1. I'm confused as to why they even bothered to release Get On Your Boots as it was when they knew (according to the past) that people wouldn't like it? Kind of weird...

    And I think what Bono doesn't realize is that people do like Pop now. When Pop first came out it was after ZooTV, it was unfinished (it might've helped if the band never mentioned that it was unfinished) and when the tour started the songs were unrehearsed. I think if Pop had a better beginning and everything just came together a lot better, with the same exact songs, history would have played out differently (in terms of U2, not history in general )

    Another question, if he sees that Get On Your Boots might've not been successful as a record, but is going off live, why don't they try discotheque live? Surely it would have the same effect, if not a better one. In fact I KNOW it would have a better one.

    HTDAAB truly is a masterpiece, and ATYCLB holds up to re-listens.
    We also love hearing 'In A Little While' live!

  5. Sorry Bono but I think you are wrong. I think that "...Boots..." sounds a lot like "Vertigo" in key, in song structure...

    I think that is why the single didn't do as well... that and radio has changed alot... So did it have 'chart success'? No. The radio was more hip on playing Rihanna and Black Eye Peas.

    It's gone off live because U2 fans get it, in the live context.

  6. Seems the band gets 'scared' or too careful if an albums isn't massive. That, like being good... is the enemy of great.

    NLOTH is a very good album, as are ATYCLB and HTDDAB. There should be no fear nor shame if NLOTH didn't set the world ablaze. There is a lot of great music there. For those that 'get it', fine. For those that don't, fine.

    Same thing happened with Pop and to some extent, Rattle And Hum... and they began to bad talk and disown both records.

    If you want to have the indie cred of your youth... approach it that way. Make music for you and not the Grammy's or sales. And don't worry about the charts.

    People have come around and love Zooropa more today than when released. This seems to be proven by how many flipped out on Sunday when they finally played it.

    The same can be said of POP. Many have been begging for MOFO and Discotheque for 360 tour. Maybe not appreciated as they should have been at the time, Zooropa and Pop are seem far more loved now than when released...

    ...five years from now folks will be begging "why don't they play "Unknown Caller", "Breathe"....and why didn't they EVER play "Stand Up Comedy" live.

    I'm already thinking, "why don't the play Breathe and No Line On The Horizon". Those were two songs I would have like to listen to in the show I attended. I think they have the energy to make the crowd chant
    And I have to say, I was really tired of GOYB, to the point of haiting it lol, but when I listened to it live, my opinion changed. I enjoyed it a lot.

    Not a hard question but I was surprised that the poster was from The Joshua Tree!

    Don't do it for public, do it for yourself, the way you like it. You'll lose some fans, but you'll get new.


  10. It's not unfinished, that's just urban legend between U2 fans. As an artist, I can buy a paper and draw one line over it and say it's finished. But I can also draw two lines. Will that make first artwork unfinished? No, because it's piece of art.

    Same thing with Pop. That album is perfect.
