    Indeed, I hope is either the first or the second show. But I doubt it will be. U2 punctually realise live material when Bono's voice is at a low point:

    Boston 2011, not great compared to other nights
    Slane, to some extent
    Chicago 2005, not a terrific show, but not a terrific leg either
    Rose Bowl

    The second Sao Paulo show is one of the highlights of the 360 Tour, so I think it'd be lot better to choose it, but it's great to see that U2.com is getting better and better (finally) with those new ideas.

    I disagree with every show you've mentioned regarding Bono's voice being a low point with the slight exception of Rose Bowl.

    Then again, the only real reason why the Rose Bowl DVD was so frowned upon is because that concert was hyped up to the next dimension. I remember people saying at the time that they already knew the Rose Bowl gig was slated to be filmed and released.

    Chicago wasn't actually the voice - it was the whole band that didn't click, at least for me. I personally find the Japanese shows a lot (lot) better. Boston was all right, although the European shows were (way) more intense. Rose Bowl, end of the second leg! At the end of the first (Sheffield), Bono's voice already needed some rest... end of leg II was not terrific, although it's a good concert overall. Tip top, for me, is still Amsterdam I, 2009. One of Bono's very best vocal performances ever - in my book.

    I felt that the band was great in Chicago. While the Japanese shows were good, I felt Chicago was a better representation of the tour as a whole. Also, the gig seemed to flow much better than the Japanese ones. I was not very impressed with many of the European shows, though.

    Regarding 360, I will honestly say that the entire first European and North American leg (any gig opening with Breathe) was average when compared to the rest of the tour. Dublin 3 stands out as a highlight, but most of the other shows would be easily dwarfed by the second European leg and even more so by the final North American Leg.

    U2 has hired Blitz, a Los Angeles-based digital advertising agency, to create some kind of "digital application."

    The Los Angeles Times let the cat out of the bag a couple days ago in an article about Southern California ad agencies that are working heavily in the web and mobile space. You can read the full article here; the brief U2 mention is on page two:

    Blitz currently is working on a digital application for the Irish rock band U2.

    Blitz's website also lists U2 on its Clients page.

    In an Irish Times interview last year, Bono talked about U2's next album having some kind of app version.

    Earlier, he was using an iPad with the Achtung Baby songs and videos on it. "That's probably what our new album will look like," he says. "I've been talking about this for the past four years.

    "Our last album was the first album to be made available as an app with BlackBerry devices, but it didn't work: the functionality was not what it could have been. New formats are going to happen. I'm always banging on about this. The app format brings you back to that world of gatefold sleeves, of being able to read lyrics – and [now of] being able to play the album at home on your plasma TV."

    Prior to that, there was also app-related talk in 2010 while U2 was on tour in Europe. An Italian newspaper included this quote from an unspecified band member:

    We are planning to release our next record as an application. Today, with laptops, iphone and ipad music can go back to being a visual phenomenon.

    Based on the LA Times article and the appearance of U2 on Blitz's client page, it appears those quotes are going to come to fruition. But when is still anyone's guess.

  12. Does anyone else find it a tad annoying how Bono always has to mention that he's been talking about it for a long time and how he's always talking about it?

    Other than that it sounds like a neat idea, but what about those of us who don't own an iphone or ipad or whatever?
