1. From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Step_Closer_(U2_song)

"One Step Closer" is billed in the album with thanks to Noel Gallagher of Oasis. The title of the song comes from a conversation Bono had with Gallagher about Bono's dying father, Bob Hewson. Bono asked, "Do you think he believes in God?" to which Gallagher replied, "Well, he's one step closer to knowing."

  2. Yeah, that is what I was referring to. The song gets better when you know the story.

I also remember 'coming from a long line of travelling sales people on my mother's side' in a 2007 interview and 'make your enemies interesting' in the 2005 Hall of Fame induction.
  3. Sigh. I'm sure there's a good explanation behind it, but we'll never hear it.
  4. just saw the reddit posts... my friends that hate U2 and are on reddit are having a field day D:
  5. It stings somewhat.
  6. Aside from all of the points being made, one must ask, where the hell did they get "ass-hat" from? That's one of the worst insults I've known. If someone called me an "ass-hat" I'd be laughing for a long while.
  7. I suppose what they're all forgetting is that U2 is a company, and such tactics are used all the time in business to dodge tax and they're all perfectly legal. How much of an active role each member of the band actually plays in running this business will probably never be public information. If Bono was at the forefront of these tax avoidance decisions then I would have a very hard time defending his hypocrisy, but for the purposes of this forum I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

To be honest, it was the enormous amount of up votes that the anti-U2 music comments got which pissed me off. 'Hurr hurr, all U2 music sounds the same' FUCK OFF!
  8. Am I the only one who's not bothered at all by what other people think? I love U2, you don't, ok, move on.

  9. That's it. This tax thing rant has been going on for years now. Who cares...
