They got together with one of those 'hip' producers - you know, the ones the kids loved in 2007 - and you should hear the results.

    This band is still around.

    The producer was Timbaland.

Just like this 'hip' Tiesto, he saw no need for a rock band to have drums and become devoid of bass and guitar. Because rock surely needs no real instruments, nor does it need any interesting elements.

Sorry, I won't let Duran Duran remain nameless. After a very decent comeback album, Astronaut, they presented the follow up to the label, and the label did not like it. They scrapped the album since the label wanted a more "radio friendly" album, brought in both Timbaland and Justin Timberfake. The album was ok in spots, but not as good as Astronaut. Andy Taylor took the high road and quit. The album is almost no guitar, real drums, and bass. U2 will never do that. They might go overboard on a few songs, reaching for hits, but won't go out like that. I still have hopes that Duran Duran release the album recorded before Red Carpet Massacre, since Andy Taylor's guitar is on that.

Maybe the record label itself has heard some experimental stuff and didn't like it, so told them to go back to the start and record some pop rock instead that the masses will love. How much of the masses loved Crazy Tonight (crap), Magnificent (crap) and Get On Your Boots (awesome)?

Most of Bomb, ATYCLB and most of War is crap. But yes, it would be ideal for the band to put something new out. When was the last time they had a new studio recording out?

    Pleasegone replies:

Wow Drew!! I don't mean to bug ya, but....: A lot on here love Crazy Tonight(Pretend Pop Version Remix), and Boots, and Magnificent. I thought the original Crazy was ok, but a weaker cousin of "Walk On." I pretty much have a reputation for hating the Crazy Remix, which is fine with me, but I loved "Magnificent" as does my best U2 friend. I really like Boots, but it is getting a little stale with me.

I know there are a lot who think Bomb and ATYCLB are crap, but I'm not one of them. I wish they had taken a few more chances, and not tried so hard to sound like U2, but both are filled with great songs, "Wild Honey," "One Step Closer" are not among them

I can't remember anybody calling "War" crap around here. I know it is not everyone's favorite...but I wouldn't call any of their albums crap. "Passengers," is full of songs I hardly ever listen to, but the two singles I really love.
  3. pleasegone, you have a reputation of loving Pop, making you the foil to my greatly disliking Pop.

But in all honesty, U2 has not released an album that one could call "crap" on all accounts. There are always going to be songs on albums that just don't work. In my mind, the only album I can actually listen to all the way through is ATYCLB (Wild Honey is a beautiful song and so is Grace).

NLOTH had a couple songs that I can't stand (up comedy), but that does not discount the fact that it was an amazing album. U2 will continue to produce amazing songs until they find no reason to exist, to keep with Bono's cheesy, yet relevant, theme.
  4. Do you think this is Bono ?
  5. I dont think so
  6. I would have bet on it if I hadn't heard that voice. He also plays guitar miles better than Bono can
  7. And his legs are too long But really creepy, looks pretty much the same.
  8. If it was real one there would be Edge sitting with guitar right next to him. Good impersonator, good guitar player, but not much of a singer.
  9. I wonder how much money he makes by doing that? He certainly looks the part, and I would be surprised if Bono was tempted employed him to sit in on UN conferences and Charity events
  10. I have seen 2 Bono impersonators in 2 tv series. One of them was Castle, a few months back and the other one i dont remember.

Must have been either NCIS (LA) or White Collar i think.

Anyway, there is money to be made

  11. hmmm, might start working on my Adam impression then, there must be a market for that
