    Sorry, I won't let Duran Duran remain nameless. After a very decent comeback album, Astronaut, they presented the follow up to the label, and the label did not like it. They scrapped the album since the label wanted a more "radio friendly" album, brought in both Timbaland and Justin Timberfake. The album was ok in spots, but not as good as Astronaut. Andy Taylor took the high road and quit. The album is almost no guitar, real drums, and bass. U2 will never do that. They might go overboard on a few songs, reaching for hits, but won't go out like that. I still have hopes that Duran Duran release the album recorded before Red Carpet Massacre, since Andy Taylor's guitar is on that.

    Well at least you knew. Astronaut was a fine album and they followed up with RCM - I do like The Valley but that's it. Then there's AYNIN - a much better album.

    I know U2 would never end up totally getting rid of the three elements (besides vocals) and I'd be sad if it happened. A few radio hits are fine but don't just make an album with 11 or 12 radio hits.


    Wow Drew!! I don't mean to bug ya, but....: A lot on here love Crazy Tonight(Pretend Pop Version Remix), and Boots, and Magnificent. I thought the original Crazy was ok, but a weaker cousin of "Walk On." I pretty much have a reputation for hating the Crazy Remix, which is fine with me, but I loved "Magnificent" as does my best U2 friend. I really like Boots, but it is getting a little stale with me.

    Boots is great. Magnificent I don't absolutely hate (I shouldn't have said crap) but to me it just sounds 'generic'.

    If they've got a paradigm that works well, why not take advantage of it?

    As much as it is important to continue to innovate and create, it's also important to root the album in something that works. Magnificent has that "generic U2" sound, but it sure sounds great.

    I remember the band having a similar reaction with the creation of Beautiful Day. They wanted to move past the echo-y guitar sounds, but when Edge found those chords, he said they were simply too good to pass up.

    So it's very annoying about Bono's every statements that they will pull the album of neverending :@
    C'mon choose an exact! date for the release, bring a single(s) and tour to farewell, not putting everytime...

    I'm not mattering if that album cannot reach in the Top 10/20, the point is that let's finished very soon, exact September, not in 2023...
  4. I'm not sure how trustworthy this article is for a couple reasons.
    First, it's 4 days old, meaning the news is probably even older than that. 2ndly, they are still going with the "10 Reasons To Exist" as the album title, which means the newest info they have is the Bono interview, not the most recent one by Larry (I think, but I'm too lazy to look up... correct me if I'm wrong) stating that we'll be getting a new album by September of 2013.

  6. Bono loves to use parables and metaphors to get a point across. In my mind, I don't think it'll literally take the band 10 years to release the next album. I think he's attempting to dispel the idea that the band is under a sense of pressure or urgency to release a new album. He wants people to know that the process can't be rushed. It has to be organic. That being said, the band will probably chug along their own rate until the new album is released, most likely in September according to Larry's timeline.

    If 6 songs are really ready now, it may well come out in September. We'll have to see. Certainly, it'd be good for sales to make it happen before Christmas.

    November would be good, too -- this is when AB came out. In any event, an Autumn release would fit well with an Arena tour starting in late winter/early spring 2014.

    This time, I seem to be confident they'll do something good -- perhaps safe, but good. Let's hope!
