According to Larry, the band want to 'get as much music out there' as they possibly can. That has to sound promising from a fan's perspective. It's a shame the double album thing is no longer fashionable. A U2 'white album' anyone??

I'd say it's very fashionable...it's been the same single simple collection of 10 songs album for most bands for far too long now. Any change would be welcome.
  2. I'd love a double album. The more U2 the better - make one with the rock and pop side, then a second album of more experimental and 'odd' or 'outer-world' tracks.

I know what one I'd enjoy more...or if the double album is too much, why not start putting actual songs as B-sides again like Neon Lights, Are You Gonna Wait Forever and Ave Maria were for the HTDAAB singles. Three extra songs not on the album is not too bad per single.

Stingray would be cool to have but not as a core album track. Same as Glastonbury, if it's as cheesy and poppy as in the form we heard it, relegate it to a B-side. In their current form (IMHO), none of the new 360 tracks played are worthy album material unless they're totally re-written and new instrumentation.

It's pretty obvious to me that no one would bet on a guitar+voice album version of North Start or Every Breaking Wave - those who support them for the album think that other instrumentation would be added... I think.

Every Breaking Wave was haunting but obviously unfinished and too simple. North Star was the most finished of all the new tracks, but still not album worthy I think.
  4. I just know I hate the version that was in Transformers. It was so incredibly over-produced and poppy sounding.

Yep, agreed on both counts. I hope they've got more in the pipeline, and trust they do

Good to hear! They *needed* rewriting

I was not really a fan of the live versions at all. Very glad they did not perform it at the gig I attended.

Really? I quite liked EBW in Helsinki.
  8. EBW is embarrassingly haunting. It just sounded terrible.
  9. EBW never sounded like it had a conclusion. Even though North Star was just as incomplete, there was a sense of progression that could be worked with.
  10. North Star, especially the Transformers 'studio' version is really nice on the ears. However not a 'song' since it fades out mid-verse

That's basically what I meant in my last sentence!

Anyway, I think they have definitely stepped out from these songs and opted for a totally different approach. Let's see. We just need a new single so badly.

Just give me half a beach clip and I'm happy
