I already spoke my mind about this... U2 were born as a political band, and they have and SHOULD remain like this. Otherwise they'll be closer to the Rolling Stones every day, just making good music without any message nor emotion behind. No way. U2 is politics, and politics is U2. And I don't care of what they do out of the stage, I'm refering to the concerts themselves. OK, a 5 minutes speech is not very rocker, but it is NECCESARY, the medium profile of a U2 fan is the one who THINKS of the world he/she lives in, and since we sometimes choose not to think, we need someone to wake our thoughts up. And if he's called Paul Hewson or if it's called Mahatma Ghandhi I don't care. Just we need him. Cheers to Bono for trying it.

Totally agree and I don't like that guy either.
  2. Oh and certain artists criticize U2/Bono for things like the charity thing but actually forget how succesfull U2 are and how they are still relevant after 30 years and how they changed the standards for a concert. They're jalous obv.

There is being political and talking political. U2 talk political now. Political bands write political songs and play them songs as their protest. U2 have the songs (SBS, Bullet, Walk On) but then choose to talk aswell. They don't have enough faith in their own music to do their talking for them. If they did then they would have played Walk On the other night with no mention of yer woman or masks or dozens of people on the stage. They got it right with SBS the other night though, play the song, show the colour and scroll some text. No need for a speech, point proven in the song.
  4. Well, don't take my first sentence about Galalgher too serious because I don't like the man either. But, opnions differ about the politics. I can live with some but it shouldn't dictate a gig. Can live with the current amount of politics with the U2360-tour.

  5. C'mon...we're truly discussing an interview with this guy?
    I mean:

Bono just wants to make a stronger stand then just playing the song.

  7. Shouldn't have to if the music was meaningful enough.

  8. LOL. Something tells me the poor man is jalous.
