In other words, the initial cost of running anything remotely close to 360 is so massive that the tour would have to be long in order to offset the costs. Additionally, the band would have to bring in revenue from ticket sales on the same scale as U2 in order to pull it off. Now I'm pretty sure 1D tickets are nowhere near the price of U2 tickets, so even if they toured with The Claw indefinitely, they would never be able to make it out of the hole.
U2 had to fund the building of 3 claws at approx 20 million euro ech. If 1D use one or more they would only be renting the equipment so initial overheads would be nowhere near comparable to those of the 360 tour.
I'll just mention that I've no idea as to whether there is even a legitimate rumour about 1D using the claw but its doable if they device too. I can't comment on ticket prices but I bet they will be high enough.
