1. ^ No real news, so we'll talk Pop instead.
  2. We can talk for a long time, then...
  3. Until there are news to talk about
  4. Look at that Please video, everyone in the front row is just enjoying the music... Fast forward to now, everyone would have their face in a smart phone and miss half the concert.

OK....... I didn't seriously request anything, I stated that I would welcome an acoustic version of pop due to its understated melodies. I feel that pop is a very good album for them, just poorly executed. That said, you have an opinion, but that doesn't mean other members ideas are terrible. An acoustic/stripped down collection could include strings and piano arrangements integrated into the songs.

haha yes, you're entitled to your own ideas and opinions... But I'm allowed to think they're terrible too No heat though, no problem since we're all talking non-sense
  7. I haven't posted on here for a while but since we're on the topic (or off it as the case may be) here's my two pence for what it's worth:

I find it quite annoying when people talk about re-recording Pop. There's NOTHING wrong with the way that album sounds! We all thought it sounded great back in 1997 and I still think it sounds great now. The only reason people have got this re-recording bollocks into their heads is cos of a couple of quotes from the band. And the only reason the band came out with these quotes is cos the album didn't sell 10,000,0000,0000,0000 copies...

I didn't prefer the re-recordings they did for the singles/best of over any of the album recordings and I thought their attempts to re-work songs like Discotheque live didn't come CLOSE to the Popmart versions...

Pop was the last great U2 album, the last album before they decided to castrate themselves and the last time anything they did seriously blew my mind and really interested me. As always I eagerly await their new album to see if they have managed to recapture some of that magic but after the last three albums i'm more than ready to be disappointed again.
  8. We all know of your disappointment with post-1998 U2, ric, there's no need to repeat it over and over and over again.

Anyway you have a point. The album sounded great when it was out (I was already a U2 fan by then, and I remember my parents -fans from 1984-85- being blown out too) and still sounds great. In fact, it sounds greater each time, each year, in my opinion. All the attempts of re-recording or rearranging its songs have failed to a smaller or bigger degree. So leave it as it is, just leave it as what it is: a great album full of great songs.

Now, let's all move this discussion on to the POP thread. Thanks.
  9. Thought this was all about the latest album and Sightings not the past.........lets enjoy the thoughts of whats to come
