If U2 want to be relevant they need to dramatically increase their output. And even that is no guarantee. They are an old band with a front man who thinks he is 25. That can't be escaped.

    +1

The best time for them has passed ... that is the true , but they still can be the best band of the world ...but i don t think they can make a cd like JT or AB

I wish ( or we wish) they to increase their output. but we know this is not going to happen

He said the same at South Bend, back in 2001:

Originally posted by BonoOn September 12th, or maybe it was the 13th, the president of the world bank said that the roots of this problem are in the roots of abject poverty. The fuel for fanaticism is the abject poverty that they live in. So he puts a challenge to us that perhaps the only way to really win this war - really win it - is to try and take away that poverty. That's my prayer.

There's a program here at Notre Dame - I think its called the ACE program - Father Scully's program, where people give up 2 years of their life and they go into an area where people can't get to, its been called teaching, I would call that changing the world. I would call getting the pharmaceutical companies to drop their intellectual copyright on AIDS vaccines - I would call the changing the world. And I would call letting the poorest of the poorest countries at least trade with Europe and the US - I would call that changing the world.

Tonight with us we have people who turn the whole concept of celebrity on its head - celebrities are supposed to be somebody special - film stars, rock stars, are celebrities who are supposed to be heros - but we're not hereos - we are people who love what we do - but here tonight we have people from the fire department and police department in New York City. Men and women who came down to catch the U2 show tonight. Here is the kind of bravery that can truly change the world.

So its possible to glue these two subjects together - the poverty in these far off places and the bravery of some of the places closer to home - if we could join these places together we might have something. This is for you.
  3. So they band are delusional and irrelevant? Nice

  4. I wouldn't say that they are irrelevant just yet but if they tout that as their goal then they soon will be.
  5. Do people not realize that Bono is doing what Bono has always done? For him activism is just as important as media relevance. If Bono wasn't able to poke a politicians and charge up the crowd behind a political cause, Bono wouldn't even bother performing. If anything, the fact that Bono is showing up, talking about the AIDS fight and other human rights stuff means he's transitioning out of a "dormant" phase and returning to his more publicly viewed self. If you step back and look at his comments, you'll see that U2 is just about ready to release their new album.

  6. THIS. This is the most important thing I've been saying that they need to realize. It's like saying I'm going to lose weight and not change my diet, it's just NOT GOING TO WORK.
  7. Good arguments overall. Still gotta love seeing him, anyway. I mean, I'm no "talibono" but I just love when he drops by and gets some screen minutes to freely speak about whatever he likes - not just a dedicated speech about something.

Regarding the album, I'm still in the same position I decided to take some weeks ago. I just don't care, they will release it whenever they, their management and Universal feel like releasing it. And what we discuss here won't change a thing, so why bothering and suffering?
  8. On the other hand, I want this. And I want it now. And I'm suffering.

  9. And on another matter, last night Bono paid a visit to the New African Center in NY:

  10. another unoriginal Bono by numbers interview. We've heard it all before, 'very good' is the enemy of great, blah, blah, blah, and U2.com pushing it on us like it's something new. If the new music is as uninspired as the same ol', same ol' that we hear in every interview, then forget about another classic album.

I won't go blind nor deaf due to my "duties", if you get me... But yeah, I just don't get my hopes high ANYMORE. It will come when it'll come, and there's nothing I can do about - except stop suffering
