1. Queue people flipping their shit over this.

Oh wait, it has already happened. Too late.
  2. So this is going to be a absolutely masterpiece double cd! The joshua tree and achtung baby together, born to run and darkness on The edge of town, sgt peppers and more, Just all in.

They already have. They even filmed a videoclip for it in a Santa Monica hangar, rings a bell?

Nah, seriously, I'm quite fed up with this. If I keep checking out this topic over and over again it's just because I have to moderate the boards, not because I expect to find anything remotely interesting... So sad, so true.
  4. Are they afraid of Coldplay? Or are they just not capable of making music anymore?

I'm fed up with it, you're not becoming more ''relevant'' when you wait 5 years with a new album. And the choise of new producers also doesn't sound good, two producers who only worked with pop artists.....

    Mehhhhhh.....
  5. The scary part is that they did this for a few years in a row now. Who will be surprised if it ends up to be 2016?

They had the Songs of Ascent 'nearly' ready in 2010. With 60 songs from NLOTH and SA sessions to pick from...

Its a bit worrying that fans are becoming desinterested in U2. OL definitely caused a peak in my U2 fanlife, but it seems it will die out long before any new stuff.
  6. At least we will get loads of previously unreleased material in the years after their retirement.
  7. What really makes me sad about that Billboard article is the constant Bono talking about being relevant. If they're taking this long to finish their new album just because they don't think it will be "relevant", they're taking the wrong decision in my opinion.
  8. Bono talking about campaining for Spain's economic recovery:

"(...) but beyond that, where's the family's response? Where is our Europe-white campaign to spotlight Spain, to encourage others to spend their holidays there, to buy Spanish goods, listen to Spanish music, have U2 make a flamenco album? Well, maybe not - but you know what I'm talking about"

U2 flamenco album - sounds great to me
  9. Half of Holland is already spending their holidays there That said Madrid is still on my list. But from all things I think Spain is not lacking any tourists.
  10. Obviously the TV show and Oscars performances made them realize something.
That they need a production better suited for live performances?
That they need a hit so big it will give them that Oscar they long for?
That their songs weren't as strong as they thought they were?
Hopefully they'll find what they're looking for, but we still haven't...

  11. THIS. This could be like Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series and be better than anything released on the albums

I think that's the case. Ordinary Love and Invisible may have been test cases, to check the public opinion. And maybe something made them change their mind. I guess they're very uncertain.
