  1. Since its Haiti relief, I highly doubt itll be U2. Haiti just happened,and U2 haven't had the time since to produce a studio cut that's up to their releasing standards and all that jazz. Acoustic, live performances (or even clean electric- SIMPLE is what I'm getting at) are much easier to pull off in a short amount of time. So yes, the multiple celebrities involved in this, plus the fact that they cranked it out AWFUL quickly, leads me to believe that it will only be Bono and Edge.

    But Bono and Edge are better than nothing at all, so I'll remain mildly excited to hear it. Can't say it'll be racking up the play counts on my iPod, but it'll be nice to hear something new before the 4-year standard that u2 have set for releases

    MTV is reporting additional details about the Hope For Haiti telethon being held on 22 January 2010. The appearance will not just be Bono solo; The Edge will accompany him. The telethon is being held in three locations: London, Los Angeles, and New York, and Bono and Edge will perform at the London leg. The specific location is not given. MTV simply states it will happen at "a London venue".

    Interestingly, MTV also reports that Bono and Edge will be joined by rapper Jay-Z. Although they pitch it as a "once-in-a-lifetime collaboration", it has in fact happened before - very recently too. On 5 November 2009, Jay-Z joined all of U2 for Sunday Bloody Sunday when they performed at the Brandenburg Gate.

    Bono, The Edge, and Jay-Z will perform together Friday night in London during the "Hope for Haiti" benefit telethon. That much seems certain; there seems to be a chance Rihanna may also join them. Earlier today, MTV News posted this article, which says Rihanna will be part of the performance. About 90 minutes later, MTV posted this article (by the same author) which says the performance will only be Bono, Edge, and Jay-Z. Either way, the benefit will run from 8-10 pm ET and will be shown commercial-free across several US television networks, as well as on several international channels and networks.




    The unnamed venue would be an interesting bet if it was in the O2 London.

In the '90s, he morphed into the cool hipster with a conscience. And in the '00s he became a child of the times with a sociopolitical agenda. Bono has managed to not only himself not only vital, but stayed out on the bleeding edge of what it is to be a great frontman.


    Tho I personally think that he has to be higher in that list, but that's what it is. Not important news, but still news.


  5. I don't quite get it. There are some solo artist who perform with their own name, not with a band. And even if they fit in there, Bono should've been higher on that list.

  7. It's an odd list. Is Ozzie Osbourne really a better frontman than Bono? Is Marilyn Manson? I agree he doesn't top Freddie or Mick Jagger, but it seems a bit weird for him to be so far down the list.

    Gene Simmons in the RRHoF and not Alice Cooper is a joke though. What the fuck has Gene Simmons done for RnR? Apart from copying others and running a KISS coverband, nothing. Steven Tyler should be on that list for everything up to Pump and skipping the MTV ballad-shit, putting Joe Perry in his place for the next 20 years onwards.

    And anyone that knows me, Axl Rose should actually be in Mick Jagger's place and Jagger in his place instead.
  10. Its just a list. I dont care if Bono is on it or not, would be better if he's not though. There are not enough ways to keep the size of Bono's ego under control

    If there was a list of greatest singer-songwriters though, Bono would have to be first.
    There is absolutely no one else who comes close to matching Bono's talents in both disciplines.

    He should probably go down as the greatest singer of the age too, I think he's even better than Mercury (while no-one will argue that Mercury is the better singer technically), he is much more versatile, and is a master of tone, nuance and delivery.

    It's very similar to Edge vs other guitarists, loads of guitarists can run rings around Edge technically but few have his compositional genius.

    So you're telling me Axl Rose, who tells people at concerts to fuck off and calls former bandmates cancers, has a better / lesser than Elvis? And Alice Cooper, an attitude? There's a reason he's called heavy metal's (although is it heavy metal or just hard rock?) most beloved and friendly entertainer. Or am I just confused?

    The list kind of isn't what I'd be thinking but all to their own.
