1. Add Brendan O'Brien who is also helping to kill music slowly but surely. See Bruce Springsteen's latest (Magic, Working On A Dream) for examples.
  2. Why do I think that Bono has coloured his hair?
  3. U2 (and brothers) were shut out for the Academy Award nominations; which I think is a bit of a travesty. Great song and great movie.

  4. damn. Nothing for Brothers at all? I fucking loved that movie
  5. To be honest I still think the original Winter was WAY better, so i'm glad they're paying for their mistake of changing to a sappy sad song for a movie that it wasn't even made for.

    I feel the same way.

  7. I agree that the Linear version was better (except Bono's voice sounded a bit harsh in the beginning of the choruses)

But Winter was actually writen for Brothers. Jim Sheridan stopped by their studio in 2008 and asked them to write a song for his movie.

In that case, I prefer the first version written for the soundtrack. It's because it's too long and might seem a little boring to some who watch the film???

I don't think it'll be too long, as it was played over the credits lol, and we all know how long they run for.

And it's definitely less boring than the 2nd version, its more upbeat and the instrumentation is more unique, the movie version is a very traditional sounding ballad.
Just the intro and first verse of the Linear version is sublime, gorgeously melodic and love Bono's imagery in the first verse "the yellow sun/ well it took the hand...."

The only problem I have with the Linear version is the way Bono sings the first line of the choruses ie. "the broken and the bruised", his voice sounds incredibly harsh. ditto for the second chorus.
