    You hit the nail in the head there. Price, price, price. Fuck demand. If tickets were 50% of their current price ALL THESE SHOWS would be sold out.

    This is why 360 was such a genius tour. The stage format allowed them to increase the amount of tickets in lower price tiers, which led all those shows to sell out.

    But yeah, I would be going to some more LA shows if I didn't have to pay $200+ per show.
  3. Yep. I don't understand how tickets for stadium seats with a massive stage production are the same price as an arena show with likely a smaller production. It just seems like money-grubbing and it's well known that U2 don't need money. It sort of makes me sick..

  5. It very well could be that Live Nation and the promoters decide on prices..but I have to believe that U2 could take a stand on it if they really wanted to. Those shows would've sold out in seconds if the most expensive seats were 150. Guaranteed.

    About the promotion : ok, Bono isn't fit. But they still could've done a LOT more with The Miracle. Like said above, Vertigo was everywhere in 2004/2005. The Miracle could've been as well. U2 as a business had got tons of money, why not invest a substantial amount of it in promotion instead of still relying on their status..?

As far as USA goes, the 360 tour and success(financially) was built from the positive buzz from U2's previous 2 tours, the spectacle of this new stage and a chance to experience U2 in all its grand U2ness in an outdoor giant stadium setting for first time, at least in USA, in 12 years. Since then they have released extremely poor received back to back albums, weakest since before War. Also Beautiful Day, Vertigo, COBL, Elevation got much radioplay, still do, and nothing from last two albums have come close to it....Also, yes, U2 are trying to cash in. It comes off as a total money grab, but, they are getting old. I will allow it. Now this tour could just be a feather in the cap of their career but I am really holding out hope that this will be the best received/reviewed tour of their careers, to continue to try for the homerun every night. OK, Zoo was just some other monster that if aliens landed in a time machine and want to experience a live rock show then that is the first place I would send them. But for us U2 fans, I am hoping this "experience" will be THE pinnacle, the one that we will mention in 30 years when young'ns ask about U2.

  9. ok last one...the US radio market is also garbage right now. U2 does get a ton of play on satellite radio, but no amount of promotion could have helped the weak reception of the last two albums. Either the songs are there or they are not, and clearly they were not.
  10. I have to disagree with your last point. If U2 had the opportunity to properly promote SOI, it would be getting a ton of radio play. However, between the rise of streaming services and satellite radio, the market of conventional radio play has all but dried up. I did research for a speech about a similar topic a few years back. Basically, with music being made more freely available every day there's no real money to be made with music distribution. All the money to be made is on the road and as far as I'm concerned U2 are still kings of the stage.

    we are now 5 weeks prior to the start of the new tour, it's a bit worrying, no ? Are they not ready ?
