1. Searched for an earlier topic but couldn't find one, so here is the official Please-topic..

And the reason why I open it: Did anyone of you ever noticed the SBS-drums during Please live?? Just listen to Sarajevo or Mexico..when Bono starts singing:

    September, streets capsizing
    Spilling over down the drains
Shards of glass, splinters like rain
But you could only feel your own pain

Just listen to Larry and compare with the famous start of SBS..or am I wrong..??

It is the same m'man, check U2 by U2 - Larry says he copied it from that, kinda reflected the whole concept of the song. I was just thinking about it actually, wishing they'd bring it back to live shows. But I guess the whole problem post-9/11 and those lyrics in question...I know that's what Bono said about it, but I mean if you're singing a song concerning the peace talks in Ireland and the Omagh bombings etc., surely that's the same principle?

EDIT - I hope that makes sense lol...

ps - Don't even think about doing it the other way around!

I would really love to hear Please live!! but not the acoustic version... the full version!! and I don't see why taking SBS out of the set-list!! I believe it's a must!!

I'm just a little sick of it, that's all. I mean, Bono went off about "I hope we never have to play this song again." and then it was played ALL the time during Vertigo. Bump it for something else, that's all. And by snippeting it during Please, you still get to hear part of it!

I personally love the acoustic version - the full electric version was more of its time, what with all the funky techno effects in the whole song. I think the acoustic version that was on some Elevation shows was just spine-tingling and incredibly. I mean, they brought Discotheque back last tour in a stripped down version, that kicked arse, so I think Please, assuming they think they won't get the chokes over it because of the content etc. could be the same
