I was lucky enough to be there that night and on May 7th . . . The Elvis bit is actually a funny story because Bono was scanning the crowd with his giant hand held spotlight at the time and in the crappy nosebleed seats behind the stage there was a guy dressed as Elvis jumping up and down which lead to Bono's remark !!

While it was a great version of Bad, it was very anti-climatic if you were there . . . We were all singing "how long" waiting for "40", and right after Bad the lights came up . It really didn't seem like the band meant for it to be the last song???
I know a lot of people don't care for the show on the 7th, but since it was my first U2 concert ever and they played a similar setlist to the DVD shows I actually like it better than the 12th. I guess you had to be there, but the whole show on the 12th didn't really seem to flow . . . They were trying to play different songs and change it up since it was the 4th show in Chicago, but they really weren't sure of what was coming next . . . or at least that's how it seemed, but we were in GA standing right on the edge of the outside ellipse that night so I can't complain!!!

i thought it was great as it was the first show to be closed with Bad...but then again i wasn't there....a killer show nonetheless!

and i do think that U2 is at their best when they have the structure down. I think the early Vertigo shows kind of suffered because the band was still working out the flow of the tour etc...but by the end of the first leg and really by the third leg things were off!
  3. the gig on the 7th featured the worst performance of Vertigo ever.

  7. Crowd is absoultely dead in the Chicago DVD bad move filming it in the US those yanks have too much access to everything and are spoilt for choice and have no enthusiasm for a live gig same in the boston video they are just standing there with a stupid grin on their faces not participating. Look at the slane dvd amazing gig crowd are well into it and show their appreciation for the best band in the world ,And as for the sth American audience the best of the lot look at U2 3d for further evidence.
