If I don't win the MSG tickets, I'll try eBay first. If I get really desperate, than I'll try StubHub or whatever else.

I'm sorry to inform you, but you missed out. The thing ended about a week ago. I should have said something earlier. Again, my appologies.

thats alright... I'm debating whether to see the Raconteurs (last minute tix?) or Coldplay. But I might save my money for Zep and U2 (close to front row?)

EDIT: 100th post of this topic!
  5. I found one more way how Coldplay copied U2. In Violet Hill, it says "...and the banks became cathedrals..." And in Lemon, it says, "With banks and cathedrals". Idk, just saying.
  6. Ok so I reckon somewhere in all of Chris Martin's plethora of DVDs is a VERY worn copy of U2ooTV Live In Sydney... I don't get why they have to draw their inspiration from ONE band again and again.

I mean (according to Wikipedia) their X&Y album was pushed back to June 2005... U2's HTDAAB was released November 2004... I mean were they just listening to that album over and over again trying to get some 'inspiration'???? Seriously?? Or am I just the only one who can hear the similarities? I mean bloody hell, even Speed Of Sound has the SAME CHORDS as Clocks... they rip off THEMSELVES???

And probably all through the recording sessions of their new album (Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends... what a weird name) they were listening to Achtung Baby, had the plasma set-up playing the ZooTV DVD ad nauseum, and bugging the crap out of Eno asking "ok so like you know when like the Edge like does that grinding sound at the start of like Zoo Station like what instrument like did he use like was it a didgeridoo or sumthin?"

URGH I HATE COLDPLAY. They were okay when they were just a band... now they follow U2 to the empth degree... I mean RECORDING IN SOUTH AMERICA?? GEEZ

End of rant. I had to get that off my chest.

    LOL!
That, my friend, was one big fucking bug-bear...
I liked X&Y, it's the only Coldplay stuff that I've heard that actually takes me in, I've got hold of old stuff and it doesn't really appeal, but X&Y was good - Fix You is a great song, but other than that, I can't say I'm overly inspired by them.

If Chris Martin IS that big a U2 fan, he should get his arse on here!

True..Coldplay has made some great songs, but that's it. Both A Rush and X&Y were great albums but not with a lot of variety. It seems Chris Martin has trouble to experiment with his voice and they aren't that good live either. Definately not as good as U2...
  9. Coldplay won't ever become as big as U2 because they aren't doing anything new. It's that simple.

U2 didn't do anything 'new' until their 4th album remember

Not as good as U2, indeed. Still, according to some live recordings I own, they're great live.
Coldplay won't become the new U2, just like U2 aren't the new 'The Who' or The Beatles or something.

Another point. Did U2 really experiment on their first 3 albums..Not really much indeed. TUF was really a great new experiment. Coldplay's 4th, Viva La Vida (Or Death And His Friends) won't be such a big experiment, but 'Violet Hill''shows us a different sound. I'm really curious about the new album coming out..and the rest of their careers...but of course I don't expect a Zooropa-like album.

Still, it's all a matter of taste. It's loving or hating

Right, I just said that in my quote as well
