Agree, those Best Of mixes have lost all their magic. Gone is ok, but Discothèque is not the same without the boom chas, and Staring at the Sun is just absolute crap mixed like that.
  2. Any Mix that makes Do You Feel Loved? sound better has got my stamp of approval.

True I hated SATS remix, listen to both versions of Discotheque though.

But the remixes on the Best of 1990-2000 weren't done properly, and were more like some guest producer's afterthought.

The band and maybe Eno, Flood etc should go through Pop and tinker with the songs that they weren't happy with due to the lack of time, and should only change songs if they deem it necessary.

The only track that might need some extra work is If God Will Send His Angels. The rest shouldn't be touched or they'll most likely get worse.
  5. Then expect to see 12 new Pop mixes.

I'd like to see the original album plus twelve alternate versions of the songs on a second disc, how it could have been bettered, if it can. There are plenty of demos which later became the final songs and outtakes, so why not release those. Eno's idea of 'making' the songs better would be to take the dance aspect out and slapping some slow-arse melody over the top, removing all the computer-based effects. Hell, he could even read bird names over the top if he wanted to make it different.

I shudder to think what the post-2000 version of Mofo could sound like.

Why would Eno remove the computer based effects? the man composed the Windows sound, and he started off as a synth player, and have you seen '77 Million Paintings', the man likes his technology, and I have a lot of faith in him as a producer.

And I think Mofo could be improved.

  8. I haven't heard that, its not 8 mins long is it? I didn't mind the live versions of Mofo either

Eno apparently thinks computers are a waste of time and space, and those sounds for Windows are irritating, espcially the XP and 95 ones. The ones for Vista are much nicer sounding.

The Mofo Phunk Phorce mix is the one from The Best of 1990-2000 DVD with the audience noise dubbed over the top, although it could be a shorter version - I haven't checked. The one aussie is talking about is from the Mofo Remixes single, easily available from eBay, where I got mine from. That's the best Mofo remix I've heard. There's others from a vinyl which I had ages ago.

I listened to it on youtube, it isn't quite as good as the album version, doesn't have the synth riff, and the singing isn't as cool (ie the "looking for the face I had before the world was made"). Of all the other mixes, only the Romin mix has the full album lyrics, is it any good? (its not on youtube)
