1. Originally posted by LikeASong:Men, yesterday evening I was at a concert my grandfather gave in a village near my house. There I met a guitar player who had tons of gorgeous guitars.

After the show (by the way, they played covers of The Unforgttable Fire and of Trip Through Your Wires) I went up the the stage and talked to that guitar player (he was called Jose Remesal or something like that).

We talked for a long time and when I told him I was learning some guitar, etc. he told me... "You wanna play the best guitar on the world?" and I answered "Man, my granfa owns a Gibson Les Paul Artisan and I've played it tons of times!!". He laughed and said "Close your eyes". He put a guitar on my hands and when I opened eyes I had a Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet on my hands. He said "Play it", and all I have to say is:

    OH MY GOD.

did he give it to you!?!?!?!?!?!
  2. No, my god... I played it for over half an hour, and they were on of the bests 40 minutes of my whole life That Gretsch Duo Jet sounded like Heaven. Moreover, he got me testing some of his new pickups (dunno the brand nor model, but they sounded AWESOMELY)... I feel very grateful

    It's gorgeous, isn't it?
  3. Gretsch Duo Jets and Silver Jets are nifty good fun and they sound great.

$450.00 for the guitar and THEN... buy some TV Jones pickups...

    Awwwww yeaaaaah! - GRETSCH-TASTIC TONE!

    Check this out...

Jack White (The White Stripes and The Raconteurs [called The Sabateurs - for legal reasons - in Australia) This is his TRIPLE Jet. It's been heavily customized. 3 instead of 2 pickups. Copper finish (drools) :M onboard overdrive... It is a double-cutaway Duo Jet with a third pickup added along with many other features including a solid copper top and headstock. It also has a Gretsch logo that was only used on a few guitars in 1912. The guitar was built by luthier Randy Parsons of Seattle." It's really beautiful, it surely sounds awesomely But right now I'm in love with the 6128 Duo Jet... OMG

  5. Hey, a 6128 would be great fun! I am with you.
  6. In fact, a 6128 WAS great fun. Did you read my story?? God I played one of thoseeee!!! Still can't believe it
  7. K so I think I'm going to go with a Burstbucker 1 for the neck of my LPC and a 2 for the Bridge. Keep it low end and not as hot, a little cleaner. Apparently the mid-end when you put those in an LP is really amazing too, which is what I'm looking for

As for the Explorer, I want it to sound like Edge's, and apparently the Seth Lovers sound just like the T-Tops, so I think I'm going to go with those on my Explorer. (unless I'm happy with the pickups that are in there already)

I'll ask one more time, if I haven't already. Does anyone have an opinion on the 57/62 Fender Strat pickups? I'm kinda going for Edge's blackie strat tone he had during the JT tour. I heard these PU's in a Bad clip on youtube and they sounded phenomenal.

    Alex

By the way, that Gretsch Jack White has is beautiful. Weird looking, but beautiful.
  8. My 18th birthday is on Saturday, and my parents have been hounding me for what I want. I don't really want anything, but I was thinking maybe I'd go to the local Guitar Center and try out some things. Any suggestions?

Do you play guitar? Like do you own one already or are you talking about starting out?

  10. I've been playing for a couple of years, just starting now to learn how to read music. I've got a couple of sweet amps, a great basic Mexican Telecaster and a Rickenbacker 360 (which I will probably get rid of).

Wow. My mistake haha. Is it a 12 string? Too bad I just spent all my money on an explorer (not really too bad) because if its a 12 string i would have bought it off you in a jiffy. 6 string rickys are cool, but 12's are gods. I love tele's by the way, cool that you have one. How are you in the effects department? You could always ask for a new pedal or something?

Ric 360's are nice! Don't get rid of that!
