1. Yes. I guess it's easier to find guitar parts in Germany than in Brazil. I heard that even a lot of Ebayers don't send there.

During the Joshua Tree tour, right before Bullet, was "The Star Spangled Banner" played over the PA, or did Edge play it live?

Pretty sure you'll find that's the PA - because sometimes (if I remember correctly), Edge would pluck the bass string whilst the SSB was playing over the top...

Honestly, I don't know. At the show I was at it happened after an intermission and we were to busy watching the fireworks and the flag lighting up. There was kind of a "Hey look! They're back!" moment when the drums started up and drew our attention back to the stage. I'm pretty sure it was recorded. I think on the R&H credits it gives credit to Hendrix for the arrangement.

I think the Rattle and Hum CD reads in the credits: Performed by Jimi Hendrix.

    I'm sure it's a playback.

  5. Haha. How can you even ask that? That's unmistakeably Hendrix' version. No doubt about it. First of all, Edge did NOT play like that. He still doesn't play like that. His sound didn't sound anything like that, you're right I think he did pluck the bass string during it sometimes.

It was definitely the version from Woodstock. No doubt about it.

Yep. That there was a recording of Hendrix's Woodstock version of "Star Spangled Banner".
  7. ANYWAY. I say we start a subject of songs we're trying to learn. Like songs we're in the middle of trying to learn. For example, right now I'm trying to learn the song In Your Atmosphere by John Mayer. I can play the acoustic part no problem, and I can sing it, but it's one of those songs that's hard to play and sing at the same time. I'll just keep practicing.

BTW. I don't think I'm going to change my strat pickups. I love the sound of them. Just put some new strings on there and realized how dead the old ones were and that's why I didn't like the sound of them. But yea. Amazing tone if you're going for the JT strat sounds. I think I might try and find a Big Dipper neck pickup (Mayers signature strat pickups are called Big Dippers) for my strat. I want the neck to sound like Mayers, so I think I'll pick one of those up.

Explorer just left New York!!! Should be here this week. (I live in Ottawa)

Well, I can't blame them, I probably wouldn't send it either. Imagine the trouble if something goes wrong. One thing that I find odd is that it seems that used things are easier to find in other places...maybe it is a kind of cultural thing, but I rarely see used stuff for sale, except cars.

  9. I say make sure Gerard doesn't read that because it's not a U2-related topic unless we're all trying to learn U2 songs...

True actually. Too bad. Would have been cool to see what other people are trying to learn.

  11. Tis why we have General Chat m'man and the "Almost Better Than The Real Thing" topic...

  12. I just figured that because this wsa the guitar topic, it would seem right. But it is called U2 & Guitar Q & A
